The other night my h was really withdrawn and moody. i figured out that he was thinking about our upcoming visitation - whenever that may be (we still have yet to get the mediation date). I assumed that he was concerned about how I would handle visitation, but it finally came out that he has serious doubts about himself. He is concerned that he may "play favorites" with our children. he says that he loves our boys so very much that he is afraid he won't ever be able to match those feelings with the oc, especially since she is being raised thus far in a manner that is so foreign to our beliefs and morals. I know that my h to be a most loving and caring man, and I think that just the fact that he is worried about this proves that his heart is in the right place. But it is something that really worries him, especially since his own parents overtly favored their other children over him. i think that he really fears being like his own father in that respect. I personally think that when it comes right down to it, h will love that child as much as he loves our boys - that's just the kind of person he is. but i'd like to know if other people (ws's especially) have had these concerns, and if so, how did it turn out?
I'd also like to know how people who are raising the oc or who have contact with the oc make certain that they avoid playing favorites.
Thanks,
cdcollins
