My brother and his new wife came to visit us yesterday. Neither of them know about oc. They were talking about how many kids they eventually want to have. Started talking about how they hoped to have boys and girls, whereas my h and I only have boys. Brother's wife said to my oldest boy, "I know you like having all of these brothers to play with, but don't you wish you had a sister to play with too." My son said, "Ha, I already HAVE a little sister!" I just froze and my h nearly fell off of his chair. Turns out that my son was just making a joke about his little brother being a "sissy" because he cries too much.
I don't know what my point is in sharing this, except that what the heck am I going to do when it comes time to tell my son something?
On a lighter note, my h had to write a quick note to ow regarding something trivial, and I had him mention, in an offhanded way, that he has been looking at houses for sale in her hometown. We havent really been doing that, but I thought it would be funny to have her worrying that we are about to encroach on her life even more. She's probably already confused about what is going on with h and I since I have filed for cs, so I thought I would let her stew over whether or not she's going to have to deal with him/us living next door. Cruel, I know, but I gotta have some fun. I have agonized enough over her constant intrusions into our lives. Time the ol' shoe is on the other foot.
cdcollins

I don't know if you want to hear this or not, but what your son did made me laugh out loud. That was pretty funny. I prob. would have passed out.

It was funny - at least afterwards it was. For a minute, I thought my h was going to have a stroke. You shoulda seen the look on his face!
After brother and his wife left, we got to talking about it and it hit me funny and I laughed so much I could hardly stand up. One of those tension-giggling things, i guess.
cd

Everynight at dinner my middle son says the blessing .We have always said ,we love our brothers, sisters and so on.None of us have sisters,so before oc was born it meant nothing to me.Now since the oc is the only girl,my heart sinks every time he says it.Also ,my 3 boys don't know ANYTHING about the other situation.

I am sooo sorry! Why don't you try saying a different one at dinner time. Tell your C you want to try something new and let them say something else like, "we love our family".
