Does anyone know of decent chat rooms to go to on the net. I've gone to the MB ladies one but never really find anyone there.

After WS came back he took a new job in another state. He really wasn't close to his family and didn't really have any friends. I on the other hand am very close to my family and had loads of friends.

Where we live now (for more than 5 years) is different than where we were before. The people are not really friendly. I don't even really have other woman to hang out with at church. DH works shift work so I am home most times by myself. Children are grown and though we still have two boys at home they are teens and do their own thing.

Most days I am home alone. I don't resent it because my marriage is worth it, but I sure would like to chat with other ladies safely. I don't want to get into a bad situation. I just need friends. When my DH is home we spend lots of time together. He is my best friend. Sometimes it would be nice to chat lady things, though.

I've found some forums and some chat rooms but usually start having trouble with the conversations. I want something decent. I am not looking to be picked up.

If you know of any chat rooms that are late night ones please let me know so that when he works graves and evenings I might find companionship.

Also maybe email pals. That would be nice.

Thanks,

hummingbirdfred2@netzero.com

Dear Hummingbird,

I did a Google search under Penpals, and found a number of E-mail pen pal services. I am not sure if there is a fee involved, or how the fee works. I sent out two responses, and got them back, returned, with no repsonse, undeliveralbe.

You have started a thread here, so you can just post updates. Since yo have posted your E-mai address, others may resond directly to you. To the extent of my knowlege, security is working on this site.

Under Emotional Needs, there are some posters who post regularly, with thousands of posts. Some threads are just newsy sort of small talk.

One unwritten rule is that if a person starts a thread, then the person starting the thread can lead the topic as far afield as desired. The title of the thread is sometimes changed by the thread starter. Newsy tidbits are labeled UPDATES.

You asked for women to reply, and I do not qualify, but if you feel you would like me to stop posting to your thread, just let me know. Some posters mesh, and some mixes create contention. I do not mind being asked not to post anymore to a thread.

I persnally leave my E-mail accounts open to my wife and kids, with passwords in Auto, and I use the MB board to stretch my ideas. I look for 0 replies to a thread, or replies to my replies.

Keep on posting,

Quipper

SadEyes - couldn't agree with you more about Promise Keepers. I have never been the same. Apparently I didn't change quick enough for my W. I have also been told by many that she saw my growth but was intimidated by it, perhaps feeling that it was her turn to address issues and she was unwilling. Oh well, I highly recommend PK to men and WOF to women.

Quipper,

No I don't mind you posting at all. I am really unsure how to maneuver around here. This is different for me. That would be great. I just didn't want to step on anyone's toes.

I too leave my email open. In fact my husband and I share email accounts. He is not really into the web but he knows he is free to check on things when he wants and sometimes sits with me and reads mail and MB.

Thanks for replying.

Dear Hummingbird,

This category is not heavily posted, so it probably won't bother anyone to share a few light experiences and cahllenges, or procrastinations. Sometimes a poster will offer criticism. I don't get reported too often. My posts have only been edited once, that was for violent content. They took out the part they found excessively suggestive of violence, and left the rest posted.

I am spending more time than I should on MB. I may be in a cycle of enthusiasm, as ideas come up for me, when I try to help others with problems that often have simalirties with my own challenges.

Today I mailed 7 checks for bills. I have to drop a Sears Bill, I didn't process quickly enough. Sunday, on my way home from work. I made a note in my spiral notebook that serves as a calendar and to-do list for me.

The 13th is Thursday. My wife and I negoitate how much she will contribute to the household budget, from her work, by waiting to pay the housepayment unitl we have to Federal Express it in.

My vision of my household recently came up as an ocean sized cruise ship, that I was the captain, and trying to dock, or manuever in a tight space. Basically, running my family is a little unweildy for me. Nobody really wants to help very much. Oh Well. I have the bills paid up until the 25th. I can start re-sorting the mail to see if I missed any bills, I suppose. I have some longer term projects to work on. Maybe Sunday Evening will be producctive. I am trying to swtch between sorting the mail, paying bills, looking over delayed envelopes, and longer term projets, and no deadline items with a potential for unreasonably overdue results, but no set date for backfire.

Blessings

Quipper,

I too am a fanatic about organization and bills. My husband says that is what attracks him to me. He is really a procrastinator when it comes to paying bills and has got us in real tight situations in the past. I am teaching him how to keep up with it and am excited to say that he is a great learner and doing a great job, but I still am the main bill payer in our household :)I just want him to know how in case something happens to me.

There are a couple of things I have found quite helpful. 1.) www.mycheckfree.com. You can use this to pay most of your bills here and they email you your bills and statements. You can set the payments up ahead of time if need be and they will not go out until you need them too. You can have them paid on the day they are due It is also free soooo it is wonderful.

Also, I found this bill organizer that has a slot for every day of the month. As your bills come in you put them in their due day slot and can see at a glance what needs to be paid and when. I only paid 12.95 for it but have seen it for 9.95 since. It has been well worth the investment because I lead a very busy life. I homeschool my two teen boys.

You may want to look into these.

This week I am in Louisiana, my home state. I am having the time of my life. I miss my family, though.

Tomorrow I am gonna help my aumt decorate her house. That is one of my hobbies. I guess I'd better get some rest.

Dear Humingbird,

I did look at the demo in Check Free, and looked at FAQ. I am still writing out checks. I'll have to give the idea of paying bills by computer some more thought.

I suppose one way to start is to select a particular bill to pay on line, and then see how that goes.

My son does not have many bils, because I pay everything, and he is supposed to re-imburse me for the expenses.

My son broke his tail light lens, in the car he drives. He found the part on line, but the part did not come through. I was thinking of helping him, but I just told him yesterday that the internet guy did not come through. I could let it go till the end of the month, and get a rejection sticker on the car. That would mean I could wait till Dec. 15, and keep getting rejection stickers.

I developed a new phrase, for me it is new, to ask for better words from family members. "Could you re-phrase that idea to be more considerate of my self-esteem?" My wife enjoys teasing me, and that is fun sometimes, but sometimes it gets a little much. My son is still at home, and her teasing when he is around is rather undercutting. I used to just tease my wife back, and have even gotten into the habit of teasing her in advance, anticipating that she would get me sooner or late. My new phrase seemed to cause my wife to stop and think. She is not really impolite, just undercutting. Now all I have to do is change my own habits. My daughter has a 4 year old daughter, and my daughter told me she does not like to come around my house becasue of the way I treat my wife. I tried to explain that it was only self defense. But my daughter did not want her daughter picking up those ways of talking.

I was going to wait to reply untill I had looked into all your ideas. I will work checking them out, over then next few weeks. A good pen pal should write at least once a week or so.

Homeschooling sounds abitious. I hope you have a support network for that. Is there a point when you plan to return your sons to school? College?

Your pen pal,

Quipper

Quipper,

I have been out of town so hope you didn't think I was ignoring this thread.

When I joined mycheckfree.com I did exactly what you said. I tried one bill. It worked great so I tried a couple of more. My only complaint at this time is that I can't pay all my bills this way.

Yes, I do intend to put my children back into the school system. My oldest starts college next year. He is hoping to be a chemical engineer. He took his first ACT test and made a 21. Made both of us feel great. Math brought his score down but we are working on it.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. She is hurting her child by not allowing her to experience her grandfather.

I like your new phrase. I am going to have to try that one out.

Keep in touch.

Quipper,

Also I think you should help your son. I would receive the money up front from him. Sometimes in helping we teach. Allowing it to get "stickered" would be a bad habit for him to learn in my opinion.

Just my opinion though. : )

Hummingbirdfred,

I would love to exchange email with you.

I recently offended someone. (I don't want to get in that situation again!!!!!!!) I would go back and apologize to them, but they left me feeling so dirty and unclean.I don't know what they thought I was saying, but it wasn't meant to be offensive. I really am awfully sorry that I did.

I, too, need someone/a female to talk too. You would understand where I am coming from from a woman's point of view.

If you are interested let me know.

Dear Humming Bird,

I did pay my mortgage payment on line. I have not checked on it yet.

My son did some internet research and found the tail light lens for his car, and I ordered it yesterday. I probalby would not have done that without your encouragement.

I saw a used Time Management for Idiots book. Should have bought it, I suppose.

I should spend less time debating with my MB fellow posteres, and more time catching up with my paper work. I have trouble leaving a post unanswered. I suppose they could sit for a week.

I need to find a way to make paperwork more interesting. I guess I need some immediacy, rather than some distant drum roll.

I guess I need a self-image of a paper shuffler.

Maybe I will work on some affirmations for a paper shuffler.

I have been meaning to ask you if there is a spcia menaing for adding Fred to Humming bird?

Blessings

Quipper,

I HATE PAPERWORK! That is why I try to do everything online.

I am glad your son found his part. My guys are working on my son's car tomorrow or should I say today being it is 4:00 am.

Yes, FRED, is part of my last name. It is also my husband's nickname at work so we use my nickname and his nick combined. Besides, I used to be just plain ole hummingbird but usually find that one taken so I add the other and usually get by with it.

Have a great Turkey Day. Be thankful.

HMF
