<BR>I'm just curious about why some people are paying child support on children who have not been proven to be their husbands. How is that possible through the courts. In Pa the man doesn't have to pay till paternity is recognized by the state. This can happen by either the man signing an acknowledgment of paternity or by taking a DNA test. I don't know why some our paying without a dna test and a court order I do know some people haven't gone through the courts at all so maybe that is why. I would suggest putting away each month the amount you think the cs may be in case the tests show he is the father and you get hit with back support.

My H admitted paternity the day he started paying CS. He says he knew I would leave if I had found out then. H was buying time. I did not find out until 4 yrs. after it was over. H was paying CS all these years. H asked OW for DNA tests when I found out. OW said NO. In our state, even if tests came back negative for H to be father, once H pay's CS, it is the same as admitting paternity. ember

My H was paying child support before I ever found out. We plan to get paternity testing done at Christmas when we see OC again. It is not necessary to have the mother participate in the testing--just one parent and the child is enough.<P>In OW's state we think that the father has two years to prove that he is not the father. My husband never really thought of asking for such testing before I found out. He was/is certain that OC is his. I have told him that I need the testing for my peace of mind.<P>MJ

Obviously, its possible for a woman to deceive her husband about paternity, wait for a period of rebuttal to lapse (typically two years in most states), and then turn around and gleefully nail the cuckold to the income shares cross. The father then gets to fork over 25% or more of his net pay to fund the upbringing of another man's child.<P>There are variants on this, such as a man being deceived about paternity by the woman and then foolishly signing an acknowledgement of paternity. These documents are binding even if conclusive DNA evidence later shows the man is not really the father.<P>Bystander
