Hi Guys,
Havn't posted in a while but have lurked occaisionally. I have been trying to spend a lot of time with my children etc. Husband and I are still separated but going to counseling. Attornies just gave us notice of a new court date regarding the divorce. My husband actually asked (in his low keyed way that is killing me!) if we could postpone it because he said, "I'm not leaning that way". Our counselor told me to stop being so fearful that I'm going to antagonize him (I Plan A too well) and to be more of my self.... so in that vein...
My kids are going away with my parents next weekend. I plan on trying have him over for some dinner (We have been "dating") and try to seduce him!!!! Here's the problem. The way I figure it I'm do for my period right around then UGH!! And I don't know about other women in their mid-forties but it certainly has gotten heavier the last few years.
So here's my question... is there anyway to either get it started early or push it off? I mean safe ways nothing too kooky? I know this sounds weird but my parents NEVER take all 4 of my kids and he's been the most receptive he's been lately. Hormones SUCK!!! Any advice? If it was a fairly light flow (please don't let me gross anyone out) it wouldn't have bothered us too much in the old days but it isn't like that and it certainly isn't seduction orientated. Anyone have any ideas??
Kris
I take it you are not on the pill? If so, just go into the next pack with no break. Otheriwse, I think you can use a contraceptive sponge which will work but I am not sure they are still available.
Otherwise, I know it may not be much fun for you, but maybe you could dress sexy, treat him to a wonderful backrub and then some oral pleasure???? Not trying to be too graphic, but men love when they can just sit back and enjoy without exerting any effort.
Let us know!!!

Ok, one thing I do is right before the "seduction begins" put in a Super Plus Tampon. Then, right befor you get to the point of insertion... slide a hand down there and pull it out. I usually toss mine into a small trash can I keep near the bed behind a lamp. All this is done while kissing. H never even knows it happened. Most times I can get through the sex and us into the shower before any major spillage. Then when he's drying off or going to fetch cold water, I go get the tampon and dispose of it properly.
This method works for me. If I'm really flowing heavy, and nature calls... We just do it in the shower. Easy clean up.
And last but not least, could you make an appointment with your OBGYN to get fitted for a diaphram? They work as a barrier method for birthcontrol and will catch your flow.
Hope it all works out.
Z.
Sorry if I grossed anyone out.
------------------
Zebra Baby ...
Lord, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Unfortuantly you cant start the pill until the first sunday of your period..then you can have more control of exactly when you cycle will start. This wont help you now. I know the timing stinks, but somehow I dont think he will mind too much. Just dont mention it (dwell on it). Hormones may or may not work, and can cause problems ( Ie progestrone, can postpone for a few days..but then you could have some hormonal issues after...can mess your cycles)..But if this is what you want call your doctor, see if he will help..just a footnote..it will make your tummy big and bloated but you will postpone your period. I guess you have to decide..BIG bloated tummy, or possible period??? some choice huh???...LOve being a woman!!! good luck Quaker

If you a really serious about this you can see your ob-gyn and he/she can give you either a shot which will keep you from starting or give you some provera pills which will keep you from starting. Just tell them you are planning a week long anniversary vacation in a tropical location and don't want to be bothered with menstruating on the trip. My own ob has done this for women going on trips and/or honeymoon. It's no big deal but will cost you an office visit. Good luck!

There is a great product at the drugstore, right next to the tampons called "instead". It is like disposable diaphragms (not for birth control thoug!!!) that hold the flow. I just use one of these when we have sex during my period.
Works great...some very slight leakage occasionally (but I usually leave it in til next am).
Kathi

Quakermom, don't mean to jump in on your thread but I've got some questions for people who have skipped their periods by continually taking birth control pills. Has anyone really screwed up their periods by doing this? I was always regular before I went on the pill. Decided to 'skip' my last period because SF with my WH was at a peak. Well, I didn't completely skip it because I spotted off and on for 2 weeks! Then when it was time for my period again last week I didn't have one!!! (This is not a good sign when your H isn't sure he wants to be married to you anymore!) I didn't feel pregnant but took a pregnancy test last week then again this week to be sure. WHEW!!! I was just wondering if anyone else had problems like that.
Heck

How did he feel about doing it during your period when you were together?
Was it a turn on, or off?
The ONLY way I'd do it then is in the shower... but he'd know, I think... if you're like me, you can't hold it in, shower or no shower...
I would like to try those Insteads that Kathi mentioned though... hmmm... interesting... so is the idea of the visit to the gyn for the pill.
Then again, this might be the time to "bone up" (pun intended) on your oral sex skills, eh? That can be just as fun!!
By the way, I'm nearly 43 and my periods have gotten waaaay heavier and not quite to "on target" monthly over the last two years. Ick. I know.

Go Sisterhood!!!

I just felt the need to say something like that when so many people have responded!! I have NEVER had to use birth control (all of my children are adopted) so I am unfamiliar with those methods. Getting a shot from the ob/gyn seems a bit drastic when he may not even be receptive. Actually, I think I'm going to look for the product Kathi recommended (good to hear from you again Kath!) I don't mind the oral part at all, but considering it might be our first intimate encounter in over a year, I want it to be more than that.
So here's hoping that after all this good advice he is receptive to coming over for dinner (and what ever might follow) I haven't let him even step a foot in the driveway since last August, but I sincerely believe we are now fully out of Plan B and into Plan A. Cross your fingers girls!!!
Kris

Kathi - I actually found and bought the product you recommended, thought it took some searching. I found it in Walgreens and now I feel prepared!! Still having all the pre-symptoms and expecting the full fledged business in a day ot two. Thanks, it's amazing the advice you can get here!!!
Kris
