Quipper,

You often quote the book "Kosher Adultery" by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach....as the source of your assertion that adding pornography into your life is a good thing. This is the same author who is friends with Michael Jackson (who has just been arrested again for child molestation???) Here is an excerpt from CNN:

quote:
In his speech, made available in advance, Jackson set out what he hoped to achieve with the Heal the Kids charity, set up with controversial Rabbi Schmuley Boteach -- the author of Kosher Sex and The Jewish Guide to Adultery.

And here is an excerpt about the charity in question from "The Guardian"

Popstar Michael Jackson's official visit to the UK next month has been plunged into controversy after it emerged that a special Jackson tribute fundraising event at which the singer is to appear is in breach of charity law, a SocietyGuardian investigation has revealed.

Publicity for the event on one of the singer's approved fan clubs' websites says the Sargent Cancer Care for Children charity will share around £100,000 expected to be raised by the annual event - called Michael Jackson day - in London on March 7.

The website also publishes what appears to be a personal signed letter from Mr Jackson in which the singer states that the event will benefit Sargent cancer care and his own Heal the Kids charity.

But Sargent cancer care today said it "will not benefit financially from the proceeds of the event". It asked for its name to be removed from all publicity for the event, on the grounds that this could mislead the public, on February 21.

Commercial promoters are obliged by law to enter into a written contract with a charity if they wish to use its name to sell a product or service - but Sargent said it had not signed any contract with the promoter of the event, Adrian Grant.

Sargent Cancer Care for Children's spokeswoman Zena Fernandes said: "We have asked the Michael Jackson fan club to remove information about the charity from their web page because it could be misleading."

Mr Grant told SocietyGuardian that he had a "verbal agreement" with Sargent, that he had exchanged emails with Sargent about the event, and that he expected a contract to be signed soon. "I am waiting for Sargent to come to us with a written agreement," he said.

He said he had issued Sargent Cancer Care for Children 500 free tickets, which the charity could sell to make a profit. Mr Grant added: "If they don't want to be named as a beneficiary, they will have to give the tickets back."

But a Sargent spokeswoman denied that it had been in discussions with Mr Grant about endorsing the event: "He was not in negotiations with the charity. I was in negotiations with our volunteers. I can't comment on what his impressions (of the latter negotiations) were."

She said supporters of the charity had bought the tickets and the proceeds would go to the promoter: "Generous supporters of Sargent are proposing to buy some of the tickets to enable children with cancer and some of their families to attend the concert.

"The price of the tickets paid for by our supporters will go directly to the promoter."

Although the link to the charity's website was removed from the mjworld site during the SocietyGuardian investigation, the claim that the event was benefiting Sargent had last night not been amended.

The fan club website mjworld.net claims: "Another very special reason to attend this event is to help us, and Michael, raise over £100,000 for Heal the Kids and Sargent Cancer Care for Children, an organisation ... that is very close to Michael's heart."

Ticket agency Tickets Direct said on Thursday that more than 1,000 tickets had already been sold and confirmed that "all profits from the tickets would go to the two charities".

A spokesperson for the Charity Commission, the government regulator of charities, said: "Any promotion of this type would require the permission of the charity concerned and the promoters would have to have a written agreement with them.

"It is for the charity to ensure that either an agreement is reached or that their name is removed from all publicity."

The Charity Commission said it would "give it a bit of time" before taking any action.

A charity lawyer, Rosamund Smith, said it is a criminal offence for a commercial promoter not to have a written contract with a charity when it is using the charity's name to sell a product or service.

The legislation has been in force since 1992 as part of the Charities Act but there have been very few prosecutions.

Ms Smith, of law firm Bates, Wells and Braithwaite, said: "It is very difficult for charities to enforce as they have very little bargaining power. Some charities don't want to make a fuss if they are going to receive money, but it is a major concern when unauthorised fundraising takes place and the charity doesn't want the relationship."

Mr Jackson plans to launch Heal the Kids at the Oxford Union on March 6 but the Charity Commission has confirmed it has not received an application for registration.

Heal the Kids is being co-launched with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, author of the Jewish marriage guide Kosher Sex, and a close adviser of Mr Jackson.

Other members of the charity's board include former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres, Dr Stanley Greenspan, a professor of psychiatry and paediatrics, and actress Elizabeth Taylor.

The website promoting the Heal the Kids charity says the idea came from major studies which show "that children who experience no tactility, no tenderness or hugging in their formative years, bear emotional scars that will not heal later in life".

The fact is that the teachings of this Rabbi are extrememly controversial and have been attacked by almost every religion on this planet including his own and his fellow rabbis. He has absolutely no training in sexual dysfunction, social problems, and his work while tantalizing is backed up with nothing in the way of clinical studies or research.

Dear Star,

Thanks for the info. I have recommended the book as giving ideas of ways to manage the marital bedroom so as to avoid actual adultery.

Child molesting, or pedophilia, is a difficult conditon to treat. I believe that more could be done, but I may be wrong.

I do not mean to personally vouch for Rabbi Boteach or his friends in regard to child molesting. This crime is highly underreported. Interestingly enough, Germany has a high rate of the occurance of child molestation.

I have recommended the Silva Method and counseling for couples who have difficulties with matching he sex drives of the partners. Do you have further suggestions for self-improvement courses, for those who wish to help their partner cut back a sexual appetite through self-discipline?

What connections do you perceive for Rabbi Boteach with child molestation? Is there part of the book, Kosher Adultery, that we should caution people about?

Quipper,

Go HERE and edit your post. Equating child molestation to any type of "love" is also not something that I am prepared to allow on this board.

Quipper this confuses me greatly. Do you equate pedophilia with "love"???? There is nothing loving about it. It is abuse...the opposite of love. It is criminally deviant sexual behavior.

Oh....and I almost forgot...you asked if I had any suggestions for how to help these people....actually I'm more concerned with helping the children....so I think they should all just be LOCKED UP (with no key in sight).

You actually think that child molestation is the 'wrong type of love' or 'too much love'? Are you a NAMBLA member? You sound like one.

Sounds like it may serve as adequate toilet paper if you are out, though.
