H and I received a letter from OW saying she went back to work on Sept 11. (she stayed out of work collecting unemployment for 9 months) She claims she's paying $250.00 a week for daycare. OW is on section 8 so her rent is based upon her income. Her income has to be under a certain amount to receive section 8. There's no way in the world she could afford $250.00 a week. H and I got a big laugh out of it. We are aware that her mother babysits OC. We wrote her a letter asking for the name of the Childcare Center and the contact person in Finance so we can verify the amount she's paying. She claims he owes this huge arrearage. My H was so happy and proud of me. I didn't flip out I handle the situation very well. (I won't lie I sizzled for 15 mins) I still feel good exOW can't get me down. I thought the funeral I went to would make me upset and dwell on the past, but I handle the situation pretty well. I'm proud of myself I didn't think about OC/exOW situation at all while I was out of town. (I was away for 4 days)

Unsure
P.S. exOW started a modification hearing before going to work. She wanted to punish H for not having contact. She just screwed herself out of less CS. Unsure, I am really happy for you that you were able to handle this situation. Of course, the xow would have to provide you with the name of the daycare, and a contact person. Does your h have to pay childcare on top of the cs? Is that court ordered? How can the xow say he owes her arrears on that? If you know the xow mother watches the oc then of course she would not provide you with the name of the daycare. If your h has to pay the daycare, I would be paying it directly to the daycare, not to her. Ask her to have them send you a statement with the hours oc attends and the cost. Good luck, stay strong, you are doing great. Peace, Gabi1116

Gabi,
Yes my H was ordered to pay 53% of OW care care expenses. That was when she was receiving unemployment, now her income has increased so it should go down. Thanks for your support. Look forward to chatting with you again.
Tee
P.S. We plan on paying all CC payment directly to the provider by check. So we can claim it onn our Ferdal Tax return. We also have to prove her mother is the one babysitting OC.
[ October 24, 2001: Message ed
[ October 24, 2001: Message edited by: UNSure919400 ]

Unsure,
I have a question. Why would your H have to be paying childcare expenses when the OW is drawing UNEMPLOYMENT???? Surely, your H doesn't have to pay child care just so she can get out and run around? I should think that the child care expense would be contingent on the child care being necessary so the OW can work. Maybe you should ask for a modification on this.

LC,
OW is working again. We are waiting for them to complete the modification process. Hopefully H Child care percentage will be lowered from 53%.
We mailed her a letter asking for the information she received it yesterday. We are waiting for a response from her.

Unsure
Guess what I just recently found out. This coming season will be my 3rd yr doing taxes and I have been taking this class in order to get my raise. We have been paying my step-daughters cc, out of the goodness of our hearts. It is not court ordered and my intention was of course to get the credit on our taxes. Apparently we can not. We can only claim the exemption for a child we carry as a dependent. Isnt that a load of crap?! That really urked me. Anyways, just thought Id let ya know so you know ahead of time. If I figure out a way to get around it I will let ya know.
Love

Really! So your telling me any money my H pays towards Child care he can't claim with the IRS! I don't understand that. It's bad enough you can't claim the CS that's paid. Thanks for the information. This just pissed me off too.
