Hi Ladies,
Well, you caught me. I actually haven't been around these parts lately---it's been very busy for a variety of reasons.
My wife had her appointment at Northwestern last week with the neurologist. We had asked to have her films sent down there to be reviewed by the neurosurgeon and neuroradiologist, as well as the neurologist. Well, they sent all the films except the last set (which showed the suspected tumor). This made the appointment a little less productive than we would have hoped.
The neurologist is very encouraged with the recovery from her stroke, and at this point he sees no overt indication of a tumor. He believes that if it really is a tumor, it's probably a low-grade gliaoma; and that this situation can be lived with for a very long time if it's not rapidly growing (it's also hard to treat unless it is rapidly growing---most chemo and radiation targets rapidly dividing cells).
I'm working on tracking down her films, and once we get them in hand we'll send them down to the neurosurgeon and let them take a look. I think that we'll probably go with Northwestern as our primary point for this from now on---they're not quite as convenient as our other neurosurgeon, but they're top-notch and they don't lose films...
I also get to try this group out. I have neurosurgery scheduled for mid-December for my back (a microdiscectomy). Yahoo!
Hope you're all well here. I did smile with Kathi's news on EN: one of the women who reports into me was going through fertility treatments and now they're pregnant with their first. I was the first person here to know---and I kept the secret too... And my brother and SIL are pregnant with their first as well!

And as a typical guy/scientist, I gave you a lecture on my wife's condition without answering the question...
My wife's doing pretty well right now. The neurologist encouraged her, and she's also started to see a therapist to help her get a grip on the anxiety issues that she deals with. She's keeping busy with the pony and the kids, and it's been a delightful fall around her, so her spirits have been pretty high, overall.

Thanks for replying K...you and your family remain in my prayers. I am glad that things look encouraging as far as your wife's condition goes.
I'm still smiling over my friend also...I'm pretty sure God had a big hand in this event.
Oh, and congrats on the new nephew or niece!
Hugs--
Kathi

K,
I had no idea!
I'm sorry I missed that your W had a stroke. The medical news you just posted sounds promising. And as far as your back surgery, you KNOW you're in my prayers, and of course at the very TOP of my list!
Very, very best to you, K. Please keep us updated on the GQII Board too. I need to know these things DAMMIT! Yikes ... sorry.
Love,
Jo

Wow. K. I don't know what to say...I didn't know your wife suffered a stroke or anything about a possible tumor. I am so sorry.
I'm glad to hear she is in good spirits and you sound optimistic as well. How long will you be laid up after your surgery?
I will keep both you and your wife in my prayers, K.
All the best
Catnip =^^=
