We do that now with "hate crime" laws and punishment for being involved in such a crime.
It certainly is a moral issue when this type of crime is commited.
In my opinion ow who knowingly tells a MM she's pregnant and wants nothing from him then turns around and sues for everything she thinks she's entitled to is just as guilty of a crime.
All people here did not want a child w/fantasy-lover. Cripes it's why we're here!
I remember thinking HOW a married woman w/a family could disgrace her family and husband by keeping baby not from the marriage. Maybe because I'd NEVER do it and don't see the logic.
However there are decent humans such as tigger4jdt who choose to keep it within the marriage and accepted baby as their own...no further involvement from om AND not telling om! Tigger saved om's wife from THAT anguish.
To me that is the way to go to prevent mental anguish and hardship and bitterness toward om/w and extended families ie; Mom's and Dad's , sisters and brothers, children of the marriage.
My H has been abandoned by one sibling. Through the grace of God our families see us healing and want no mention of oc ever! H knows it. None of our parents even consider oc as family. Nor do our brothers or sisters. Pennance? Sure. But c will grow in spite of us. Oc's will do ok without us. We will do better w/o oc. It only works sometimes to include oc/ow forever. To those who do that...God will help and let what's best happen.
Nuff said.....
Debi

You know, Gem, I agree with you. What I am saying at times when I refer to that is the world isn't gonna care if there are laws on the books saying , "you can't sleep with so and so..." that is what I meant by that. I wish there were laws saying you can sleep only with your spouse, but that is the slant I meant when I say "you cannot legislate morality".
The sad part is, people are still gonna sleep with each other, married or not. Personally, I think that is wrong and I ascribe myself to God's higher law. The laws of our land have seriously gone astray(especially when OW's get the money and in certain cases priveledges that at one time were reserved exclusively for the wife).
I do believe that OP's who deliberately get pg or someone pg should be held accountable and that the laws should be changed to make it fair for all parties involved. I believe that ALL parties involved should be considered, included the BS and the children that were originally of the home. I guess in my case, I would be screwed anyway as OC is technically my H's "first biological child" I was beat out by the tramp by two weeks!!! TWO WEEKS!!!
I just wanted to clarify that when I meant in my previous posts about legislating morality, I meant that we will probably cannot stop people from sleeping with each other, BUT....we can make laws work that all parties are considered fairly. (fair...is there such a word as that? I haven't seen fair lately....lol)
Expect my e-mail soon..... Hugs, Twiisty

In a perfect world, all children would be planned and born to families full of love and light. All marriages would be wonderful and the partners would never stray.
What would the punishment be for a man who sleeps with a woman who's not his wife?
What would the punishment be for not using some kind of birth control?
I'm not trying to pick a fight and PLEASE don't answer this question if you feel picked on. I just wonder.

Gem
I truly believe the most effective way to stop this rampant 'disease' is not to legislate morality, but to make it tougher for prospective OP's and careless people to be awarded outrageously high CS.
There is an incentive, backed by the government, for people lacking integrity to seek out an easy way onto the gravy train, financed by people like you and me. This cancer is spreading at an alarming rate...because it is soooo easy to receive guaranteed extortion. And the governement sponsors this.
All cases should be determined on a case by case basis and carefully scrutinized to eliminate these punitive court orders that destroy so many innocents and annihilate the incentive for the NCP's desire to contribute.
When they allow someone to take it all and leave nothing for anyone else, resentment is borne and the person who truly wants to do the right thing, suddenly doens't want to do anything at all.
If people would once again become 'ashamed' of their indecent behavior, if there was a stigma associated with this behavior as there once was, then perhaps this wouldn't happen so often. But in this ridiculous "anything goes" society, the age of Jerry Springer and Howard Stern, we cannot expect a non-thoughtful or non-introspective society to embrace morals or desire character and integrity and especially honor. It seems to me that today's society has degraded themselves into self-centered behavior. Our children don't get to be innocent and have long childhoods as in the past. They are constantly bombarded with trash everywhere. What a terrible legacy we leave our children.
The society is sick and I mourn the loss of taking the high road and people having the strength to resist. I know there has always been this kind of thing happening throughout history...it is just now in epidemic proportions, and I think that is sad.
It is a mess, Gem. No one wins...
Catnip =^^=
[ November 28, 2001: Message edited by: catnip ]

Excluding Fullhouse and Pops who are from a different angle. I'd love to go to court and see what the judge says. Or does. CS? To a child technically born of the marriage? (law in our state states that a H would have to do a denial of paternity to be let off the hook)....even HE gets a choice!
Again I say just because ow is a female she gets to destroy a lot of lives by "keeping" her love child. MM never gets a choice after the fact of sex,,,,,,,18 years for a few moments is too high a price. Liars both but bigger liar is ow...I'm on the pill, I don't want anything from you, I'll raise it alone, yadda, yadda, yadda....
Angry right now......
Debi
