It's seems like every topic lately has to do with child support. It gets my heart really beating strongly after every post I've read.
Sadly H has to pay cs for 3 children (two before we were together and then 1 from the affair...all the same woman).
Granted many of your H's pay a lot more than my H, but still it is a finical burden on him and indirectly on me...since he can't afford to pay any of the household bills we have.
We've been trying to get a court date for almost 3 months now and it's crazy. When H first went to court (before I knew about oc) they asked for no documentation. They just simply asked him how much money he made! He told them what he makes on a good week, forgetting that there are times he makes nothing for holidays, bad weather and simply no work.
All of these posts about child support are really scaring me! I'm afraid they won't change it. I'm afraid my income will come into play. (That gets my blood boiling!) etc. etc...you all know the issues that go with child support.
OW gets health insurance from the state. H is on my health insurance. That hasn't come up before in court, but now it scares me.
Three years ago I had my nieces (sisters children) living with me (legal custody) and took their father to court because he wasn't paying his child support. He told the judge he wasn't working and his wife supported him (he worked for his dad...just didn't claim it) The judge cut his cs in half. I keep thinking about that hoping the H will have the same luck.
The date is December 11th for H's court date. Keep us in your thoughts. I'm so NERVOUS!!!!!!!
Take care, Why

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Why, but it is against the law in most states for the hearing officer/judge to consider your income.
If you are paying all the household expenses, these payments effect you DIRECTLY...not indirectly. You are supporting your husband so he can pay support on three kids.
Good luck on the 11th
Catnip =^^=

quote:
Originally posted by why: It's seems like every topic lately has to do with child support.

It's the Flavor of the Month on this site and it ain't never gonna change.
One more thing, Why....if you can show the judge you pay all the expenses and your husband is living off you, perhaps you should file for seperation so they think he will be on his own and need 'some' of his income to provide for himself. Perhaps then they will lower his amount when they know he won;'t have you to support him. Just a thought.
Catnip =^^=
