If there is anyone on the board righy now, Abbi needs prayer! She has been running a fever all day yesterday, and has an appointment at 2 this afternoon. The reason she needs prayer right now is she hasn't slept for more than half an hour, and when she wakes up, she is screaming, and does so for about 10 min. Nothing I do helps. It is now 2:30 in the morning for me, and I am beat, worried, and at my wits end. Please pray that she sleeps the rest of the night, so I can function. If she is no better by morning, I am going to take her to the emergency room.<p>Thank You,<p>Tigger

Aw Tigger I will pray for Abbi. I'm sure you're at your wits end. A crying baby who can't be consoled is at the top of the list for "maddening" feelings. Have you tried baby advil? My BIL is a dr. and uses it for his kids fevers. <p>Let us know how Abbi is doing later.

tigger, abbi is in our prayers. i would suggest that you take her to dr. as soon as possible. i am not a dr. but this sounds like it may be an ear infection. very comon in young children. what happens is when they lay down pressure changes in the inner ear and causes them shotting pains. it is generally treated with a common antibiotic. good luck and i hope this the extent of her illness.

Well, I took Abbi to the Dr, and it isn't a recuring earinfection(she just finished her meds for an earinfection a week ago). Her temp is still high, and just now, when I gave her some Tylenol, she threw it all up. I know that she will be ok, but it is just so hard to hear her try to cry when her throat is so raw, and she is so tired! I guess that we are just passing this cold back and forth, since I, myself was in the emergency room on Thurs night for a high temp(104.1) and received an IV to replenish my fluids. Ok, now bear with me, because I just got back from spending over 5 hours at the er with Abbi. They determined that she does, in fact, have another ear infection, but, on top of that, she also has croup. She was also very dehydrated, due to her not wanting to nurse or eat this afternoon, so they had a very hard time getting the IV in her. In the process, one of the nurses, while using a light to locate a vein in her hand, burnt the palm of her right hand. [img]images/icons/frown.gif" border="0[/img] Hopefully, with the meds they gave her in the er, and the fluids, she will be able to sleep tonight, and me as well. <p>Thank you all for your prayers.<p>Love,<p>Tigger

i am sorry to hear that abbi is still haveing a hard time but happy to rear that there is nothing seriously wrong. croup is such an annoying illness and i have given many a hot steamy shower to my kids at 2 am. i am sure they told you that a humidifier will help if you can obtain one. my prayers for a speedy recovery for both of you.

Hope Abby is doing better today. Try pans of boiling water on your stove. I do this when ever we get sick .It will help with the ear infection and her throat. It gets real hot and steamy but it really helps. My oldest had croup once when she was a baby its scary. Hope your both feeling better soon.<p> with love, flowerseed

Hi Tigger, <p>I stopped by and saw your post. When my son was little he used to go right past 101 and straight up to 103 and 104 everytime. This used to send me in a panic. A couple of times he had an ear infection. <p>What I used to do was gently massage as follows:<p>When they are resting or after a bath
1. lay then on their back and use 2 fingers start gently pulling down from just below their neck around their neck and towards their chest. Do this 4 times on each side. Be gentle<p>2. move to the up to both ears and stroke down towards the neck. 4 times<p>3. put your thumbs between their eyebrows and gently push upward above the eyebrow. In a fan
like motion. 4 times.<p>4. put your thumbs on their nostrils right under their eye and gently stroke outwards. 4 times. <p>Now it is important that you do it in this order.
Then go backwards, same strokes but in the reverse order. Start with the nose part first. <p>A chiropractor taught it to me and my son did not have ear infections when he was under 2 years old. Only when I stopped did he get 2 ear infections. I still use this massage on him to this day. I started when he was about 2 months old. I would say 'massage' and he would just melt. Tigger,<p>I hope things are better for little Abbi, but if not I thought I would share a little bit of info...when my youngest was an infant, she was very sick just as you described Abbi her pediatrician diagnosed it as RSV which for an infant can be very serious if not diagnosed. For the common adult though it is just a common cold. I dont want to scared you, but just want you to be aware of this disease (which is very curable) because it is very often mis diagnosed b/c it is not very common. Please keep us updated. I just wanted to thank everyone who has been praying for Abbi. She is doing much better, but still isn't quite herself. I appreciate all the support and prayer we've received at this difficult time.<p>One other quick prayer request. Sailorman is going to be off the ship for about 5 days on a security assignment. He couldn't tell me what he was going to be doing, or even if it was going to be dangerous. Just that for the next 5 days, I won't hear anything from him in any form. Dear tigger,<p>It has been taking a while for me to catch up on posts, so forgive me that I have only learned of Abbi's illness. I guess after such a severe episode it will take a bit of time for her to get back to normal. But, she seems to be a tough little girl and I am sure she will have a 100% recovery.<p>As for Sailorman, may God watch over him during his mission. I know how frightenened and frustrated you must be, but you have survived his absences before and he has come home to your arms. That time will soon arrive again. Try to be strong. I will continue to pray for your strength during this difficult time of separation.<p>You have not e-mailed any recent photos of Abbi. Get on the ball, mom! You are a mother - photos are your priority ... so let's have some new ones.<p>Take care of you tigger. I will never forget your kindness to me and your offer to make blankets for my babies.
