Maybe one of you can help me with this question. My H had an affair 4 yrs ago. it resulted in OC age 3. H has seen child 2 times. Has not had paternity test done yet. OW was married at the time of A, but is now divorced. My H did't sign the birthcert. Since she was married, does the OC have her H last name? Can the OC have her maiden name? One more thing. Can I go to vital records to see birthcertificate? Is that public info? I'm just curious who OW named as father, since she has not contacted my H for CS!

Hello,
I think it depends what state you are in. Here in WI you have to but your H name as the father if you are married. Call the vital records and give the name of the OC what you think it is and they should tell you if it is public record. In most the birth certificate is public record and you can go to the vital records and see. Good luck. Here in WI if the mother is single it is kept private.
Dawn

Hello,
I wanted to clarify. I found out that I was wrong. Here in WI the birth certficate is only private if the father is listed as unknown. All you have to do his call vital records and ask them and should give the information but you need to know the birthday of the OC and the name at least the first name and then give the possible last names and they will look it up for you.
Dawn
