In line with trying to keep some more positive things on this forum. I'd like to try a daily gratitude journal for all of us. So, I'd like to ask each of you to take a couple of minutes each day to post (5) things that you are grateful for. Hopefully, thinking up five things will be easy for you. (I have a feeling it will. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]) Those things can be things that have to do with your spouse, your children, your job, anything with your life in general.
Let's keep building on this. And when it gets too long, we'll start a new thread. And a new one, and a new one, and a new one!!
Come on, guys! Let's get this thing rolling!
------------------
Love is meant to heal. Love is meant to renew. Love is meant to oust all fear. Love is meant to harmonize differences. Love is meant to bring us closer to God.

Ok, I searched and searched for this.... A friend of mine sent it to me last week.
Lord, Thank You.....
Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes; we have
plenty of food to eat.
Thank you for this pile of dirty, stinky laundry; we
have plenty of nice clothes to wear.
And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade
beds; they were so warm and comfortable last night. I
know that many have no bed.
My thanks to you, Lord, for this bathroom, complete
with all the splattered mess, soggy, grimy towels and
dirty lavatory; they are so convenient.
Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that
needs defrosting so badly; it has served us faithfully
for many years. It is full of cold drinks and enough
leftovers for two or three meals.
Thank you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be
cleaned today; it has baked so many things over the
years.
The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that
needs mowing, the lawn that needs raking; we all enjoy
the yard.
Thank you, Lord, even for that slamming screen door.
My kids are healthy and able to run and play.
Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me
says You have richly blessed my family. I shall do
them cheerfully and I shall do them gratefully.
Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the
alarm rings, Thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There
are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning
light as long as possible, Thank you, Lord, that I can
see. Many are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising,
Thank you, Lord, that have the strength to rise. There
are many who are bedridden.
Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when
socks are lost, toast is burned and tempers are short,
my children are so loud, Thank you, Lord, for my
family. There are many who are lonely.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the
pictures in magazines and the menu is at times not
balanced, Thank you, Lord, for the food we have.
There are many who are hungry.
Even though the routine of my job is often monotonous,
Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There
are many who have no job.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to
day and wish my circumstances were not so modest,
Thank you, Lord, for life.
B
------------------
My favorite quote....
"Hello, this is God. Wow!
What a God-inspired idea. What a refreshing breathe of 'fresh air' on this board and others on MB which are filled with so much despair and hopelessness (selfishness and in-gratitude).
God give us ALL an 'attitude of gratitude'.
I wrote the Lord a 5 page letter on July 4th, thanking Him for all He has done for and given to me.
So....here goes!
I'm grateful for....
(1) My Lord/Savior/Friend, Jesus Christ
(2) The Holy Spirit's involvement in every area of my life
(3) 4 beautiful children and 2 grand-children, all who are 'born-again' Christians
(4) My health and unbelievable level of propserity on my job
(5) My precious wife of 33 years, even though we have been separated for over 3 years
Like other's have said, I could go on & on!
[censored] from Texas

Just when I needed a reminder to be thankful......
1. God is with me at all times
2. My two beautiful and healthy children
3. Every minute I get to spend with my aging parents
4. Every moment of life, which is short
5. Another chance to learn to be me!
Thanks for this reminder that in even the darkest moments, if you can find thing for which to be grateful, you will survive.

We will get by.
3) I am grateful for the support of family and friends.
4) I am grateful for the new friends that I have made as a result of this crisis.
5) I am grateful for my H. NW, this thread has POWER! Came looking for it today because I was down. Let's see, I'm grateful...
My mom took the girls for more school supplies - I need the "quiet time".
My MIL called today - no news, just to say Hi.
No BAD news!
Daughter's 2nd day of school was good, too! And she's sticking to her "new restrictions" another day w/out complaining. (From a teenager, I guess that in itself is a miracle!)
The sun is shining and the rain has stopped - finally!!!!

I'm late with my gratitudes today - but I made it!!!
I am grateful -
1) That I met a nice mechanic at the gas station (a real gas station where they have the guys who pump for you!!) and he fixed my tires (leaking) and made sure the air was good with a hand pressure gauge cuz nobody has the gauges on their air hoses anymore and I can't tell!). He filled the oil, washed ALL SIX windows and replaced a fuse. He did all this for free!!! He wouldn't even take a tip!! God Bless Him and His Family, please!!
2) We had a good amount of rain today.
3) The kids are all in school
4) Shoni and her H are going to be OK.
5) I do not have a cell phone!

Things I am grateful for today:
That my son's first day of school went well.
That my extremely shy son said to me, "Mom, I made some new friends today."
That my body (arthritis) allowed for me to clean my house today.
That my dog didn't piddle on my freshly cleaned carpet. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
That my H is at the store with my son now, buying me a present. "It's a surprise," as my son so eloquently put it. Last night it was a "picnic bouquet" of flowers. Things that make you smile. Today, I am grateful for.....
1) My hearing impaired son seems to have some good, understanding teachers this year.
2) We've found a prospective new home for a sweet, previously abused rescued dog we've been fostering.
3) That my H took me out to my favorite sports bar for "wing night" tonight.
4) Someone was surprised to find out I have a child in high school! (Always love it when that happens! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com])
5) That I can go to bed tonight with no hatred in my heart and anticipate waking up to another bright day tomorrow.
Bless you all!
------------------
Love is meant to heal. new woman,
I, too, am fostering a dog. Only problem is, I can't imagine giving him up. Unfortunately, I have no choice. I already have 2 dogs. One of which is a high strung puppy. Needless to say, I have my hands full. It's just that I have become so attached to this wonderful dog, I can't imagine anyone giving it a good enough home. Whenever we go to Petsmart on Sunday's to find him a home, I get angry whenever anyone goes over to his cage. It's such a horrible feeling. I'm the kind of person who has never gotten rid of an animal. As a matter of fact, I just lost my 16 year old cat, who I had since the second he was born. So, having to give this dog up frightens me. Oh well, at least we cared enough to take him in. Apparently, someone didn't want him, so they dumped him near my home. We posted signs, and gave our name to the local shelters, all to no avail. I can't imagine it either, since he's truly a terrific dog. And only a year old too. The humane society was full, and they said that they'd have to put him down after 10 days if he wasn't claimed. We couldn't do that. My H was the one to take him, and when he drove up with the dog in the car, I about killed him. I just couldn't sign that death warrant though. He's got a wonderful home here, and is more spoiled than you could imagine. He even shares me pillow. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] So, how do you feel about giving the dog up? How long have you had it? It's been since June 1 for me. Well, take care. Sorry to change the subject.
------------------
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
Helen Keller
Okay, I'll chime in [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
1. Grateful for my salvation and God's mercy when I don't deserve it, I've had hostility in my heart toward steparenting
2. Grateful that my 19 year old SD has decided to get serious about her life and making a move to MN to live with H and I, and grateful that God seems to think I can handle it when I think sometimes I can't
3. Grateful my husband had 35 minutes with his mother yesterday alone, where he could express his feelings of his heart honestly without interruption - and she cried, and he is one step closer to restoring his family after being named with only one other nephew on his aunt and uncle's will
4. Grateful that my husband made an appointment with me to discuss the steparenting issues last night, and we made a hint of progress
5. That h is thinking about requiring a drug test for 16 year old SD who lives with us, and also thinking about what he will do if it is positive

I am so grateful for my friend and neighbor. Someone I could call this evening and say "I can't be alone -- can I bring the kids and come over?" and she said "Of course!" Even though she's getting over the flu. Then later this evening when I was home again putting the kids to bed she called just to make sure I was okay.
God bless her!

I am thankful this morning the sun is shining, and the dew on my car sparkled.
I had a good hair day! (Dazed - you'll like that one....)
And on the way to taking my 6 year old son to school, he asked - Mom, Who made the world? And he said, Did God make it after he died? And I got to tell him about God, how he was never born and will never die, he is forever and that is something that humans have a hard time understanding because we only know what we see, feel and know. Then I got to talk to him about my relatives in heaven, and how when I go to heaven it will be fun.
I am thankful for the song I listened to on the way to my son's school - about a confession to the Lord about my unapproachability, my stubborness, my lack of faithfulness with the talents he's given me, and my unforgiveness in my heart. It is helping me keep the focus back on me, instead of looking at the SD's and H shortcomings. I'm not perfect either, and I am thankful that God is reminding me of that.
