I had an accident which resulted in a broken foot. The pain got so bad I went to the 24 hour Urgent Care Clinic.
I told the Dr. what happened...stupid mistake on my part causing about 600 lbs to fall on my foot.
Here's the strange part. After the X-rays showing three broken bones, she asked me "Do you feel secure returning to your home this evening?" I was stunned because I thought only women were asked that. My injury was OBVIOUSLY no due to any abuse so I can't figure out the reason.
Any other man ever been asked that question during an exam for an injury?

P.S. I bit my lip to keep from laughing and said I was delighted to go home with me wife.

I am an ER nurse.
That is (or should be) almost a standard question after many injuries. It is partly a CYA (Cover Your A$$) thing. If the patient's injury was due to domestic abuse, the staff &/or clinic could be held liable sending them back into that situation. And, yes, men can be abused by women.
Elder abuse is a mandated, reportable issue - just like child abuse. Sad commentary on our times...

It is a good commentary on our times that there is societal concern about domestic abuse of persons of all ages. The abuse has always gone on! The reason people are concerned now is not because we suddenly have child and elder abuse when we never did before; it's because people who were concerned about how women, the elderly, children, and men, too, for that matter, are treated in their homes made it an issue and made others aware of it.
I know that people for some reason like to think that society is going to heck in a handbasket, but there are things we do better these days than people did in the past and taking care of victims of abuse is one of them.
