ULA,
Just thought I would post to see how you are doing. Hopefully, your visit with your sons over super bowl weekend was a good one.
Take Care,
JL

Just Learning
Thanks for asking. Things are going well all things considered. I seem to have withdrawn a bit from the whole situation lately. I don't know what the reasons are but I suspect I am just taking a slight breather. I find myself not being as loving as I could be to the W, but she seems to have sensed this and is giving me much more attention and affection in place of it. Perhaps I am having some "cave time" (Mars/Venus). I feel like I reach a plateau and then stall for a while and even regress a bit before I snap out of it and move on. It would be comforting to know if this is typical behavior or not. It is too bad no one has outlined and published the stages of recovery from emas, if they exist, even though they are no doubt somewhat different for everyone. I think that there must be mile posts that are typical for all BS's. From my ramblings I sense that it must be getting close to my next therapy session (tomorrow). She is a wonder at allaying my fears and rebuilding my ego. As I said before, I feel like the visit with my sons went very well and perhaps the groundwork has been laid. I haven't heard from them since then but I have been putting off initiating contact myself. I am sure I will hear from them after Valentine's day since we sent cards and gifts through the mail to the grandson and he always calls to thank us. What a joy grandchildren can be! ULA,
I am glad to hear you are doing well. I think the plateau is probably normal. It takes lots of energy to deal with these things. Hopefully, your sons will start to allow the seeds to grow. They are both in very busy times of their lives so I suspect that some of the distance you feel is simply their life taking over.
They cannot know how much their contact means to you or your W. They will learn but it will be when they are your age. Then they will wish they had made more of an effort.
I'm lucky I guess. My youngest won't graduate from HS until I am 60. So, I am many years off from being in your situation with respect to the childrens lives. Of course, I may not be able to remember their names by then.
As for the withdrawal from W, I think it is probably just a continuation albeit more gentle of the roler coaster you have been on for the last year. It is very good that you W has moved closer to sort of fill the gap.
It is my deepest wish that she realizes what she has in you and she lets you know that she does realize.
It was good to hear from you. Please come talk here often as you move along.
God Bless,
JL
