Is there anyone out there with a spouse that abuses alcohol/drugs? I know this is a touchy subject, and probably one you'd want to keep secret. But, I need help with something.

Well, in addition to many other issues, my husband has what I feel to be an addiction. He's in denial and won't admit to it, but it has caused problems in my eyes. He has refused to see it, and of course, won't seek help. I too have developed an addiction of my own (not substance-related), but this is something different. I see I can't make him recognize the problem, yet I feel I can't continue to hide it. It bothers me.

Really, that is the least of our problems, because we're about at the point of separating. It's not because of the substance abuse, either. It's a long story, due to what I now call my "Seven Year Stupor".

I don't mean to get too personal, but are you separated because of the drugs/alcohol? Things are not working between my husband and I, but I'd just like to be able to help him if I can.
