Our MC decided that we have healed significantly to the point that we can go every three weeks now to see her and also on an "as needed basis"...I guess that's a strong testimony to the strength of the relationship that I have with Mr. "T". I am still heartbroken at times over his betrayal but pray that as time goes on, it just dulls.
I got part of an unfinished letter from Mr. "T" and if it's ok, I would like to share with y'all. I believe it can give hope to others that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it ain't always a train coming at ya!
I have to attribute alot of my healing to this board, the wonderful people who chatted and listened as I got my anger and hurt off my chest and above and beyond all else.....GOD...He has been my constant companion throughout all this.
So, without further ado......my unfinished letter that was given to me on D-Day (05/01)* * names changed to protect identities...hee hee
Dear Twiisty:
What's up? The LT. has me in beat 1 tonight. Normally I wouldn't be happy about that, but I am. It's been pretty slow tonight so I have a chance to sit here and write in our notebook.
It goes without saying that May 1 (Or "D-day" as you sometimes refer to it) is just around the corner. At first, I was going to write that we shouldn't put too much emphasis on that date, that it's just one of the 365 days of the year. On further reflection, I do see that this is a significant date in our lives, but not for the reasons you think.
Life as a whole, can be broken up into phases (or stages), with significant events being the dividing line. May 1, 2001 ushered in a new phase to my life as well as yours.
For three years I was in a nightmare. It affected my health, my job, and sadly my relationship with you. You are my best friend and I can talk to you about anything. I could not even think of how to approach this with you. I spent countless hours trying to figure that one out.
I'm not saying I'm thankful that Ex-OW called you. Quite the contrary. One of the biggest regrets I have about this whole mess is that you had to hear it like that and from her. That wasn't right. And I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart that I was not man enough to tell you myself. I just had no idea of how to do it.
But, with you knowing, it ushered in a new period in my life and my relationship with you---a stage of my life where I could be honest with you again, something I was unable to do for a while.
And I am happy that after all the tears and heartache, we are finding happiness again. OUR MARRIAGE BENT BUT IT DID NOT BREAK. And I realize what I almost lost. I want to thank you for sticking with me. That took a lot of strength and a big leap of faith on your part.
I love you, very, very, much. I think we make a pretty good team. I would not trade you for a billion dollars. (maybe 2 billion... ) Just kidding!
And something that can not be understated is how God has helped us along through this. On May 1, 2001, we prayed together and I asked God into my life. I meant that. I have tried to live up to my promise with God, but sometimes I fall short. I do need to pray more and read the bible more..........
and that's how Mr. "T" trailed off.....man...I wish he finished the letter....but I'm thankful for this as this is a change in him, that I never thought I would live to see.
Since the beginning, a year ago...I told him that we need to pass a notebook back and forth to each other and write about anything and everything and not always about the A or OC or ex-OW etc...
I have found that this notebook has really helped me and Mr."T" talk about things that we could be really touchy about...I also found that if I was feeling insecure about things I can re-read or write and tell him without LB'ing all over the place.
I'm so thankful that we seem to be moving in the right direction, but I guess that it being a "three night stand" and no contact helped us alot in the long run.
I pray for all the "newbies" and wish everyone here peace and health and contentment.
Hugs and prayers, Twiisty

twisty, I envy your recovery, but am so happy for you and Mr.T. He obviously has his priorities right, on you and your family. I wish my H could see that. Can your H talk to mine via this web site?

We haven't been back.
Twiisty, it just keeps getting better from here on out! You can cherish the "normal" days, knowing how precious simple normalness is.
Love your notebook idea!
God bless your marriage!
J recovery 3.5 years and happy! Twiisty
What an excellent idea to exhange notebooks....this is what is done at Retrouvaille to help couples learn to talk with each other and bear their souls. Your husband's letter is very beautiful and I am so happy for both of you that you have taken this 'opportunity' to enhance your marriage.
Now that you will only be meeting with your counselor on an "as needed" basis, you could still take those times that you would have been spending with the couselor and spending that time together in conversation and in adult time.
I just loved reading your post, Twiisty. God bless you and your husband.
Love
Catnip =^^=
