OW has good job making 40,000 a year and wants an increase. My H is on a fixed income of 40,000 and I am just barely making 20,000. We already pay 485 for CS and an increase would just cause havoc in our household. Anyone out there with experience on this subject. What should I do? Please help, I feel a breakdown coming on!

Does the state you live in have guidelines? Such as if there is 1 child the precentage taken is this amount. I know Minnesota does. Unless I'm mistaken, I think there is a cap on how much can be paid also.

I would search the net about your state and see if you can find out if your income counts as well. It may not, Just because she ask for an increase doesnt mean she will get them.

In my case only my income was considered, but I'm sure it varies from state to state so definately check it out.

Hey! Are you trying to make me jealous or something???
According to the state to state guideline of 25% of the gross or 17% of the net, or thereabouts, most states would have you pay at least $800 per month for the basics.
At $485 a month, I'd say you were pretty dang lucky. I would switch with you in a heartbeat. We pay in excess of $1300, sometimes $1500 depending on how many weeks there are in a month as we pay on a weekly basis (garnishment) and my husband makes around thesame as your husband does.
Try not to get too nuts over this because the increase probably won't amount to much if your husband is on a fixed income...or at least I hope not.
Good luck
Catnip =^^= (also from MN)

I got to thinking last night that I am just upset that she is even thinking about taking us back to court again. I will try very hard not to worry. Our court date is June 14. I really believe she wont get an increase. And here I am complaining when there are others here in worse situations than me.
