It has been 8 years since I feel my husband recommitted to our marriage. It took several years afterward to accept he meant it. Does that make sense to all of you?
Anyway, we are now talking about renewing our wedding vows. Part of me wants to pick a totally new date rather than our anniversary, because to me that represents a marriage that failed and we have created a new relationship. Therefore a new date should mark tne new realtionship. (Another reason is the OC's birthday is the day before.)
I also wanted to keep it personal and small just a celebration of our renewed commite to one another.
Has anyone else done this? Any ideas?

I kow we bought new rings to start new. My husband never wore his ring he does now.

I love our anniversary date and I want to feel like we are making something that wasn't quite right, better.<p>I applaud you in your choice. Excellent idea!! [img]images/icons/smile.gif" border="0[/img] DH and I renewed vows after just 1.5y, I think. We got new rings and used some favorite verses in the ceremony. Try to include things that have signifigance to you guys. Make sure the person officiating knows exactly what you are looking for so there's no misunderstandings--ours did miss one thing we both thought he would do but didn't.<p>I think ceremony and ritual and really GOOD and overlooked things in modern life.<p>Congraduations!!! My husband and I are going to be doing the same thing. It was his idea and I loved it! We are going with a different date then our anniversary, again, the start of something new kind of thing. Were going to go to Tenn. for it. Either in Gaitlinburg or Pidgeon Forge. They have so many beautiful little chapels there and lots of vow renewal ceremonys for great prices, and you get the cake, pictures and a video tape of it all. The only people who will be going is of course my husband and our 3 kids will be in attendence. When we got married the first time, I was just in a regular white dress and we got married on a beach in Florida. This time I am wearing a full on wedding dress and I will have the pictures I always wish we had. I already bought the dress..lol. Vow renewals in my opinion are one of the most wonderful things for a couple to do, especially when your starting all over after all of these years. [img]images/icons/smile.gif" border="0[/img]
