Okay here goes, has anyone ever been on Celexa? My doctor prescribed it for anxiety attacks but I am also depressed, jeez I was crying during the cma awards show tonite< any way depression runs in the family but I really don't want to get stuck taking meds all the time like my mother does because she is borderline manic/ depressive, any opinions out there would help

Celexa is great from what I heard and I have two friends who are on it.

It treats panic disorders as well as dealing with depression...my friends take it for depression.

I hope it works out for you, it will take some time for it to get into your system, but Mr."T" and my friends said they noticed a 180 degree turn in my personality by the third day of my taking zoloft...I even noticed the difference.

You can always try it and if it doesn't work (after a reasonable amount of time) then go to your doc for something else...not everyone reacts to meds the same way.

My daughter, Dinobon (9 years old) is bi-polar (manic/depressive) and she does indeed take lots of meds, but she needs them...it's essential for her day to day living. She was diagnosed after much careful testing, and several visits by an expert in the field of pediatric pychology/pyschiatry.

I hope this works for you and that you will be feeling better shortly.

Hugs and prayers,
Twiisty

Celexa is an SSRI antidepressant, one of many that could work for you.Figuring which antidepressant would work for you is trial and error, and that is assuming it is at right dose for you. THese antidepressants are very effective, but not all work for everyone. It can take 4-6 weeks to work, so keep plugging at it. If not this one, there is Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor, wellbutrin, etc.
Hope this is helpful.
