If you ask an attorney to file an appeal based on this Tennessee law are you responsible for the fees? The tennessee case - the dude was a doctor and probably had some cash to fight it.

Otherwise, if you don't have legal representation what alternatives do you have for equal protection. Seems to me that if one state does it then others should eventually follow suit but I don't think in waiting for other states.......what can I do now that would be productive!?

You cannot be denied an appeal because of lack of funds. You can file pro se (yourself) but you would have to gain knowledge in that area:

You'll have to join the above group to read messages and ask questions. But they are very informative about how to go pro se. You'll pay filing fee's and such bit they are not that much.

Melissa; thanks....wow, a bit intimidating....I guess letters to congressman or other officials wouldn't help in the meantime?

I think the law should change in general - not just for me. I have another appointment with our attorney on Tuesday so I'll ask her then about the TN law. Thanks.!!!!
