So, let me make sure I've got this right. The OW can keep the OC a secret for years and be entitled to back child support once she decides to come out of the woodwork? I don't understand this.

In some states yes. Like in ours, Arizona. OW waited till OC was almost 3 years old, so H was ordered to pay $20,000 in back support. Yes, that is $20,000. It sucks and is totally unfair, but what can we do?? We just pay it and live from check to check and hope we don't have to go back to court for a long long time... Maybe someone here will know for your particular state.

Just read your other post, just some advice. If you do find out that she is pregnant and has a baby, don't be naive like us and think that just because she never contacts you that the baby isn't his. That is what happened to us. We later heard rumors she was pregnant, etc but since she stopped trying to contact H, we figured it wasn't his or she wasn't pregnant. That was our biggest mistake...
