well my little guy is a week old today... it's amazing how quickly i can forget how painful and never-ending the whole thing felt when i hold him.
i'd been really unsure how h would handle being there for the birth and what he would feel for this baby. he wasn't sure either. it's been wonderful to see them together though. h makes a bee-line for the baby the minute he gets home from work, loves holding him, kissing him, watching him sleep. everything. anything. no one would have any reason to guess that this wasn't really his son (biologically).
we named him William Jay Alexander B. but we're calling him Liam (the last four letters of William). William is after my dad, Jay was h's grandfather, and Alexander is after the baby my sister lost.
so... we're both doing well. liam is amazing and h has surprised even himself with how easy it is to love him. neat, eh?

Congratulations Amy! I know my husband had a harder time when I was pregnant. But once the twins were born I think he even amazed himself at the love he feels for them. The twins visited with the biological father yesterday...they might resemble the OM but the bond just isn't there. My H is their daddy, it is just real obvious. Enjoy your little one, they just grow so fast! I love the name you chose. I have a nephew named Liam.

Amy,
Congrats to you and your H on the birth of Liam! He sounds beautiful, but you forgot the statistics!!!!
I well remember the tension in the delivery room with Abbi! In fact, Sailorman had even left the room for a cigarette! Almost didn't make it back in time, being that Abbi was my 4th delivery! I'm pretty sure that the nurses were wondering why he was being aloof during the labor and stuff! But, once we were all home again, he really bonded w/Abbi, and now she's just as important as our 10 yr. old D! Both are very much Daddy's girls! Every day that goes by, your H will become even more attached to your (you and H's) son!
Keep up the good work on your M, and you will have years and years of happiness with your new family!!!!
Congrats again, and love,
Tigger

Your update also helped to allieviate some of the growing fears I've been having about when my oc is born.
I'm with Tigger though, us ladies especially, always like to hear the vital statistics. Hope you'll be able to share soon!
Take care of yourself, and enjoy your little one!

my mom's over right now so i have two hands free to type with... it's hard to type with only one!
well, liam was 7lbs 14oz and 21 inches long.
the labour was way harder than i thought it would be as far as the contractions went. they were 2 minutes apart the whole time , which was for about 24 hours. though i couldn't feel a thing for the last six or so... god bless epidurals! i'd really wanted to do the whole thing drug free, but honestly i was so tired after having contractions so close together (and so long that i hardly got a chance to rest between them!) that i really needed the epidural... just to be able to sleep for a few hours before pushing. i'd just about made it to 10cm by the time i actually got the epidural, and he likely would've been born about five hours earlier had i not gotten one, but i don't regret it. it was truly blissful! as it was, i only had to push for about an hour, which they tell me is pretty good.
what else can i say?
i'd heard so may horror stories about breastfeeding that i was convinced it was going to be a real struggle, but he caught on instantly. now my only fear is that he's gonna blow up like a balloon... he seems to eat constantly!
i wish we could post pictures on here. i doubt he'd win any "world's most beautiful baby" contests, but i think he's pretty darn adorable!

Congrats Amy!!
What wonderful news!!! Welcome little Liam!
btw, Amy, if you have started a website for Liam, such as babiesonline.com (they are free) You can post the link here and share pics of your little angel. I have posted Lil Bit's website here before...
I know I, for one, would love to see him!

It is more "baby friendly"...if baby was drinking formula, it would take baby's body more time to break down the proteins in formula. (hence the four hours versus every two hours for a breast-fed infant)...also, breast-fed babies eat on a supply versus demand system which doesn't make them at risk for obesity later....but I'm sure you know that!!!!!
I'm sorry it's just my BF peer counseling mode kicking in....congrats on your new little one...mine is a month old already and now 10 pounds and she filled out nicely (and I'm nursing her too....zoloft and all!)
Hugs and prayers, Twiisty

Congratulations on your little boy Amy and hubby! I was so excited to see your post yesterday morning and was going to respond but was floored by a post my husband left yesterday. It is a great post but he isn't listening to his own advice unfortunately he is in the midst of his own affair now and it is painful to see the Godly man that he was slip away. Anyway, I want you to make sure you hold up your husband before God because of the spiritual maturity he is showing by staying married and accepting Liam as his own. I have to say I am envious somewhat but am more excited for the both of you. My little guy will be 6 weeks Thursday and is the sweetest thing. Aren't we blessed to have these little gifts come out of our sin? Patty

Amy,
I agree w/Twiisty! I BF all three kiddos, and they are all very healthy, but were never over weight because of nursing so often! In fact, my son nursed the most out of the three, and he's the skinniest! My girls started out big, but "rode the curve" at a normal pace for growth! It's the best way to feed a baby, and you don't have to warm any bottles up either!
BE,
I know this is Amy's thread, but I was so touched by your post! I'm so sorry that things have turned out the way they have for you and HTD! I just wish that we all could have helped you both more! It was nice to see you post again!
Aut,
I can add my $0.02 about the in-laws, as that was one of my biggest concerns! Now, they didn't meet Abbi till she was 19 mos old, which can still be a sore spot for myself, but a little more understandable, as it was quite expensive for ANY family to come visit while we were in HI! But, they could have at least tried! Anyway, I was completely nervous about their first meeting, and what made it worse is it was in the hospital room where Sailorman's dad was recovering from double knee replacement surgery from the morning before! I have to say, they were so excited, that even FIL, drugged up on painkillers, was awake for the full 45 min we were there! Of course, Abbi wouldn't go near them, but they were in love w/her the moment they saw her! As has been said MANY times here, the OC is the most innocent in this whole crazy mess, and grandparent's, whether biological or not, hearts melt at first sight! Especailly when your H is SO proud of the new little one!
Ok, I went on a little bit, now back to normal programing/posting
Love,
Tigger
