if oyu have read my previous posts, you know my situation. I am married. During a separation I had a physical relationship with someone which led to pregnancy. When does my finacial responsibility start? Do I need to be paying for part of the doctor visits, medication and clothes for this women? Please let me know if anyone knows.

You're financial obligation shouldn't start until you have DNA proof that the child is yours.

Some states have different laws, but you need to be sure that the child is yours.

My suggestion is do some research on what your state law is in regards to this situation.

Some states even look at if you have been an active participant in the child's life as a Father figure. That can also cause a man to be CONSIDERED the Father, even if DNA proves he is not. Its that way here in my state.

NO contact with the OW during the pregnancy is best, it gives you time to work on your marriage before the DNA test is performed.

I agree with Stacy wait till there is DNA proof. We did look up State_laws, for our state for answers too. Very helpful.

if you love your wife you will not try to pay for anything for this woman! child only and i agree with the others wait for a DNA test no matter how sure you are that the child is yours if for no other reason to respect your wife. for some reason people don't seem to get there is a fine line in marriage and you have already crossed it give all the med. money and cloths money to your wife which needs for you to be completly faithful. try not to think about this woman at all after the situation you have caused give up the crap and deal with whats real no amount of money or medicine is going to help the situation only make it worse. try to be loyale to your wife and only your wife.

Wait for the DNA results. In the meantime, work on your marriage and have absolutely no contact with the OW under any circumstances. You two do not need to discuss anything. This time must be used for restoring your marrige and making things right with your wife.

If you give the OW any money whatever, in some states it can be interpreted as your admission of guilt. Do not give the OW any money and do not see her, speak to her, attend any doctor appointments or be involved in any way. Your first obligation is to your wife and any children you have together. Your marriage is the most important consideration until you receive the results from a paternity test.

Once you receive the results of the DNA test after the child is born, then the next step is to discuss with your wife how much involvement your marriage is strong enough to take. If you have taken advantage of this time before the birth to work successfully on your marriage, your wife might feel comfortable with some contact. If not, it is important you respect her feelings and just be patient. If you yourself do not desire contact, your obligation is financial support for the child and the courts will make sure you pay.

I hope for your sake that you will be one of the lucky ones and the DNA test comes back negative. There have been a few lucky ones here...they got their "get out of jail free" card. Hope you do, too.
