JT and everyone,
Girl, you asked for it. Yesterday you posted about how we were seeming to have so much fun and asked for help finding "fun." Okay. After a lot of thought about it this morning in the shower (giggle), I figured out a "fun" thing (and NO, I don't have shower massage - geez, get your mind out of the gutter).
Once upon a time, during therapy - in the beginning, when I was still in pieces over everything, my therapist suggested that I keep a journal - but I had to write happy things in it - at least one a day. Holy Moly. If I could've gotten away with slipping out of my shoe and hurling it at her smiling forehead I would've. I mean, c'mon, I was in PIECES for crying out loud. What joy was there in the world anymore? But, to give that loon credit (she was a little nutty), it's really not a bad exercise.
I'm not suggesting that we write a journal entry. I'm suggesting that we try to attune our minds to something "fun" or "happy" or "beautiful" around us. Just one thing. I swear on my left big toe that it works. This "happy" thing will be yours and yours alone - no one will be able to take it from you or sully it in any way. You just share it with us so we can rejoice for you. It can be as little bitty or as huge (to you) as you want.
I've got two, and I'll go first for a "for instance":
The first one is that I saw a rainbow EVERY morning last week on the way to work. How odd/cool is that?
The second one is that I saw two rosy eight spoonbills (humongous pink birds) on the way to work today - and even tho it's a horribly thundry, rainy day, they were as bright a pink as a Barbie corvette.
There. Someone else, it's your turn. Oh. And you can post more than one "happy" - you'll find that once you are attuned to them, they come along more and more often.
- Kimmy

Not to steal you happy thought JT2 but I saw my H's face when I went to sleep and woke up and saw it first thing this morning.
So JT2 did your H stay the night? Mine did last night for the first since some time in February!
This one may seem silly but it made my day--my H didn't put garbage out at the street last night and he had cleaned our shop so it was to heavy for me to wheel out and he had promised to do it. This morning I woke him up and asked him to do it and he said he later--remind him before I left for work--usually this is a struggle -bad morning person but when I got out of the shower I looked out and he had done it
One more I watched the greatest thing this morning my son and H snoozing together until I got son ready for daycare--they both looked like little angels.

Hi Albany and JT2,
I am so happy for you guys. I have a positive too. Husband is telling me he loves me now. He also calls me more than once a day. He gives me hugs. He is really changing from the monster he was during the affair to his old sweet self. I just hope he don't change back.

YEA GENIA!
My dh was an a-hole during the a, also. I almost don't know how to act now that the man I married is sitting beside me.

You know, this reminds me of something Oprah had going one year. I think it was like her theme that year, or something. Remember the gratitude journal? She periodically had people on who told how keeping a journal of the things they were grateful for, had changed their lives. Changed their focus, their outlook...
I recall a few testimonies of marriages it helped to save. Many a relationship was mended.
It's so true, when we focus on what we have been blessed with, instead of only on the crapola and the injustices of life...we change! In my estimation, for the better.
Ever since our children were little ones, from time to time, (especially when they were in entitlement mode), we have interrupted the dinner conversation, and ask that we each go around the table and list X number of things each is grateful for. Of course, we've had to put qualifiers on the kids, as once in awhile they would list smart-alecky, stupid, or repetitive things , but all and all, it's been a good thing. Really helped to change the focus in a positive way. Makes for great conversation, provides a lot of laughs, and sometimes even a few tears. It's also a fantastic way to get a glimpse at what makes your child and/or spouse tick.
Good idea, NG! See what I mean by fresh air? And, I didn't even catch this thread before I started mine. [ June 29, 2004, 05:01 PM: Message edited by: autumnday ]

Moving it up. Don't forget to post your "happy" or "beautiful" if you can!
Mine is my dh said, "I love you," first last night. I'm usually the one to say it first....he got a big ole sloppy........kiss.....for that (hehe). It was said so sweetly. It is so precious to me.

It's hump day ( think I covered that last night )and I'm on vacation starting Friday.
H was charming last night. The weather is great and my liile guy was playing possum this morning when I went to get him up--you should have seen the little smile that crept across his face and gave him away.

Oh brother, leave it to me to go on and on about what a good idea this thread is, and then fail to say something I'm happy about!
47, count 'em, 47 more days till the first pre-season NFL game, (of my beloved team anyway)!! Not that I want to wish summer away, as this great weather is something we survive the winter for, but the onset of autumn and all that comes with it is pretty darn awesome too!
Wooohooo, finally got a lawn mower that I'm able to start, so I can mow the lawn while H's at work, rather than leaving it for the weekend when we'd rather be playing.
DD and I are getting along better than ever in all of her teen years. She's even doing chores w/out me asking! Think it's too much to hope that work ethic rubs off from one teen to another? I have my doubts, other teen is still in pj's. I can dream though, right?
Last but not least...I'm as happy as happy can be for what happened in the fine state of Oregon last night!! [ June 30, 2004, 11:54 AM: Message edited by: autumnday ]

I think the serum is a combination of things.
1. I found an unbelievable birthday card for her, that said all the things I've wanted to express, and have tried on occasion to no avail. I gave it to her after all the birthday festivities while we were all alone, right before she went to bed. She gave me the biggest hug, actually, hug(S), and kept repeating, I love you, I love you. I reciprocated, big time! She seems to be a different girl since that night.
2. As I said in another post recently, I've used some of these MB concepts in my other relationships. Namely with my teens. They work!
3. I think she's going through a bit of the leaving-for-college-probably-out-of-state-but-not-sure-which-one-yet-in-one-short-year blues. As much as she enjoys her social life, and ever growing independence, she's still a homebody at heart.
4. Think she's realizing she's closer to the age of an adult now, than the age of child. [ June 30, 2004, 12:15 PM: Message edited by: autumnday ]

With everything going on right now since H filed, I want to let you know that this thread is very uplifting. It has got me thinking of all I am thankful for. So here it goes:
1. My wonderful children - they are a blessing that will never be taken away.
2. The beautiful day - gorgeous sun all day, moon and stars at night. Makes you enjoy God's true miracles.
3. My DS - my "little man" - for taking care of mommy. He has taken it upon himself to "be mommy's man" and is very kind and helpful. What a blessing (I think I already said that in #1, but worth repeating).
4. My DD - her sparkling blue eyes and smile which brightens my day, her butterfly kisses and squeezy hugs at bed time, the wet hug I just got after her bath. I'll say it again - what a blessing.
5. Good friends who will let you cry on their shoulders (even though all they want to do is hurt my H). Their continued support means so much.
6. Waking up with a since of peace the day after H filed. I know God will take care of me and my kids. I will be alright.
7. Trust, faith, and love of God. (This should be moved up to #1).
8. Water gun fights with neighborhood kids on a hot summer's day.
Sorry, the list is so long, I needed to catch up.
9. Forgot one, the tears of joy I have been crying for you all as I read about all the good things happening in your lives. I am so very happy for you (and maybe a bit jealous), but mostly happy. Love you all.
10. One more, the continued hope that God will work a miracle for my M.
I think I am done for today!!
