I was wondering what is the ballpark amount charged to file for legal separation and set up child support for me and my boys to protect our finances form the ow? How long does it take? What is the process? Is it legal to file even hough you are still together and do not plan to separate? I think I need to do this soon. The OC is due in Dec and I want to have everything in place ASAP. Thanks in advance everyone.

There is no "ballpark" figure. There are a lot of questions. I'm not suggesting you answer these here but you'll have to get SOME legal advice. The county clerk can answer a few questions about costs and how long it takes but they cannot give legal advice on how you should do it.
What state? Are you doing it yourself or using a lawyer? Can you afford it (do you make enough money or are you on welfare, etc)? Is it concurrent with a divorce? And on and on...

When I found out about my H's A the OC was already born. We immediately went to Child Svcs to get paternity test. The results came back 2 weeks ago that the child is his. We have not seperated but I didn't think about trying to secure CS for my son. Do you think it is too late now for me? Also, my H currently is not making much money. He just started a business and is probably netting about $600 a month (which is whole other problem we are dealing with). What is the % that they take for CS?

TR8 it depends on your state. In my state it's 18% of gross income, and if you are self employed they take into consderation common business expenses only.
