Unforgiveness Will Lead To A Grudge

(Ephesians 4:32) .forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.
(Matthew 6:12) And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
(Col 3:13) Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
(Luke 17:4) And if the same person sins against you seven times a day, and turns back to you seven times and says, 'I repent,' you must forgive."
(Rom. 12:21) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

To begin we as the children of God should always represent love. And a few of love attribute say, "Love is patient, love is kind.... It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." -- 1 Corinthians 13:4-5.

When we hold things against people, are we really hurting them by keeping records of all their wrongs? Isn't it really ourselves we are hurting? These are test and Satan loves to try to get people on our nerves, including family and friends. Satan tries to aggravate and frustrate us to the point that we do not want to be bothered with that person again. Is that love or is that unforgiveness, that has tied in a root of bitterness? Can you past the test…? Can the past be the past?...

Jesus frequently spoke of the need to forgive others. If we are to walk the narrow path, we will have to learn to be quick to forgive. The quicker we forgive, the easier it is. We must do it before the problem gets rooted in our emotions. It will be much more difficult to pull out if it has long, strong roots.

Holding grudges against other people does not change them, but it does change us. It makes us sour, bitter, miserable, and difficult to be around. We wonder why our prayers are not being answered, sickness in our bodies, and we wonder why Holy Spirit want flow through you as you see in others, and troubles are all about us, it is because we do not forgive. Do hold in grudges, offenses and complaints against one another forgive and let it go, and your life can be healed in more ways than one.

When we think we are holding a grudge, it is actually the grudge that it holding us. It is Satan’s deceptive way of keeping us in bondage. That is an evil spirit that is holding us. He wants us to think we are getting even, that we are protecting ourselves from being hurt again. If you want to hold onto something hold on to love and fulfill love attributes. Get over whatever is trying to bind you and forgive! Let it go!

A Prayer
Father God, I choose to follow Jesus' example by forgiving others. Therefore, I will enter into a new realm of peace and enjoyment of life in Christ Jesus. Forgive me Lord for holding a grudge, and allowing Satan to hold me, I will not allow unforgiveness to take hold of me nor the demons that come along with it, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

In God I trust and He rewards

I JUST heard a sermon/study on this the other day and I thought, I don't need this........hmmm do I?

Think God is trying to tell ME something?

I better start praying some more dontcha think?

Thanks BBG! Really. I know I still harbor some resentment that rears it's ugly head sometimes, mainly toward OW butI am making progress, little by little. Could this be MY slap upside the head?

My problem with forgiving my H has caused me so much more pain than I ever thought I could be in. Ladies today is not a good day. I am just so torn about whether or not I can forgive and if we even have a chance to go on from this. I want to be like God cimmands us, I am not having a good time with this as the due date draws near and my H still is living outside of the house.

I just don't want to be going through this and I have no idea how to get past it. Sometimes I feel like if I just were not here it would be different. I trust no one. I do not even trust what I am feeling anymore. GOD please help me!

Your faith and willingness to get it all to him is getting stronger everyday! But the devil will try harder to turn you back around! Keep praying, keep reading and keep up the faith. And thanks so much for sharing! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Last September my church was offering a woman's Bible study on how to love and forgive as Jesus did. The book we used was "How to become a woman who loves" by Cynthia Heald.

That study affected my life so dramatically that I don't think that I would have been able to survive what I've been through had I not taken the class. I've often thought why I felt drawn to take this study, and I believe that God was getting me ready to deal with what was coming.

Besides, through this class, I met a very godly woman who saved my life (and marriage) by giving me her own personal copy of The power of a praying wife.

Thanks for posting this, I think I'll save it to add to my "wisdom pile".

I was going to post this last night when I was online, but forgot. This is a quote that I carried with me in my pocket the night I saw OW at H's ballgame. It came from a devotion that I read just the night before - God's perfect timing. I read it when I saw her for the first time. It seemed to help me focus on how I should react and treat her if given the opportunity. It is based on Luke 6:27-36.

"I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You'll never - I promise - regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we're at our worst. Our Father is kind, you be kind."

Reading and praying this really helped to calm my nerves and helped me through the night. God is so good!!

Another statement I liked from same devotion is: A repentent heart finds a receptive God. I hope and pray H and OW will find their way back to God and repent for their actions.
