Ok, lots of Moms here..
So who else is taking (or making) treats for the kidlets school Halloween parties tomorrow??

I'm elbow deep in frosting.

I have baked 30 cupcakes and two 8 inch round layer cakes...I'm staring at them facing the daunting task ahead of decorating...

So far I have portioned the frosting into three bowls to color it (orange, black, and green) and after I frost them, the fun begins...I start stenciling them all...

Sheesh! What was I THINKING!!!!
LOL!

C'mon, can anyone feel my pain??

ohhhh,,that brings back memories!!

I used to be the "room mother" for all of my kids in all their elementary school years. That meant I was incharge of all the holiday parities. Come any holiday I was always knee-deep in decorations and party favors all over the house,,not to mention our own home decorations! Ughhhh,,LOTS of work but very gratifying to see the reaction of the kids on party day!! Something you,,,and they,,will always remember!

ha ha ha I am not super mom anymore .... I let the hubby do it as punishment ,.

I baked all these cupcakes a few years ago and had to actually grate all these oreo cookies to a fine texture to look like dirt and first put frosting on the cupcakes then stick a gummy worm in them and put the "dirt" on it to make it look like a worm coming out of the ground/ had other versions with pumkins fingers hands ect OH it was cute as hell but I was soooo tired from all the work OH i made a cake to look like a graveyard as well.
My kids were the hit of the place but I was snoring in a chair to appreciate the experience.

I used to love doing that stuff. But do remember being beat after. I always did my grandmothers cut out sugar cookies and decorated each and everyone differently, with the child name on them Boys were devils and vampires the girls were witches and pretty ghosts..... The kids always wanted to help....for about 5 min.....The cookie trays were set up like a graveyard too! I used the Pepridge farm cookies for the headstones, used colored coconut for the grass, etc. WAAAAAY to much work. The kids ooooed and awwwed, and the beautiful display was gone in a matter of seconds.

But isn't that icing the best!!! If I remember correctly, toothpaste will wash it off.

Also if you get the "ate to much icing" tummy ache, eat a tomato to cut the sugar!!!

Ahhh!!! Another 'perk' or vote FOR homeschooling! LOL

The closest we'll get to anything like that is pouring some jello into some Halloween jello molds I bought last year.

I go all out for birthday parties though! I LOVE baking.

I have done the cups o' dirt before, for a bug themed party. Did an 'Ernie' (sesame street) cake one year using a football mold. Made a barbie cake by baking the cake in a bowl & sticking Barbie in it...the cake was her dress..but sorry, had to break her legs to make her fit in it (the price of beauty! LOL) Made a wedding shower cake by pouring white chocolate into a ginger bread house mold to look like a church!

One day I swear I'm gonna make a christmas ginger bread house....I promise!

Yah but I can't cook! go figure....we eat spaghetti-type dinners quite regularly. LOL

It all sounds like fun girls.....one day I'm gonna throw our own halloween party...someday (sigh)

ya'll inspire I must say! I just started baking recently so I have lots of catch up to do. I can cook pretty good though. My xH was the stay at home dad while I went out to work the "big" job. Had no time for baking. Now that I am the provider and the homemaker I have taken a stab at it...even baked a banana bread last week.

I use to do all those things every holiday and I just don't have the time now. We do take time for christmas though and bake and bake and bake. It's a blast. I had a girlfriend do the girls birthday cake this year. She actually bought it from a bakery and then two small ones and then I bought to bratz girls with all these accessories and it was the cutest cake ever. She made a couch with pedistals with the bratz sitting on it then all there accessories were all over the couch in a "fashionalable" way. I had more people come up to me from other parties asking my commenting on the cake and wanting the baker's number.
