I want to sell the house before its foreclosed. My lawyer is holding up so that i get 1/2 of what we make on the house. He won't sent the contract. Husband keeps sending me messages on how I'm stupid to let the house go, and that i've wh*red around on him and i'm not going to mess up his credit.
I also need to pick up my car and it's 1500 miles away. I don't want to go physically because I'm afraid for my safety. I don't know if he will voluntarily render the car. Credit company says i'm still responsible for the balance if i voluntarily turn it in. I don't know what to do. I need my car here, but I don't want to go to the other state. I"m afraid.

eacl, tell your husband that he's credit won't be ruined if he sells the house with you. Or does he want to stay in the house? Then have your attorney make him re-fiance the house and give you your share in the equity. As far as the car goes is his name on it too? If not, I'd take a friend with me and have a police escort (meet you there) to pick up your car.

eacl,
Wow does this post bring back angry memories for me.... Unfortunately the law does not protect you the way it should from him basically being able to destroy your credit if he doesn something like have your car reposessed...
My ex-H broke my arm. I was the main money earner, and I was unable to work, so when he was kicked out, he basically took what little money there was and left me screwed. Even though I have THREE, yes count them, THREE seperate court judgments saying he was soley responsible for any and all debt, and also had to reimburse me for medical costs, etc, I will never see a dime. As soon as the third judgment came through, he filed for bankruptcy to avoid ever having to pay. The credit companies don't care, they just kept coming after me for HIS debt!!!!
I'm finally rebuilding my credit, but it's been an awful experience...
Please, Please protect yourself ANY WAY YOU CAN!

Please stop taking your H's words seriously for right now he is not acting like a rational person. Make peace by accepting the fact that for the moment, no amount of reasonable words on your part are going to penetrate your H's angry and hate filled mind. Do what you know you must do in order to protect not only your interests but that of your baby's as well.
You may be right that both your H and the OM are unworthy to be fathers to your baby, but be careful with those judgements for you could also be found wanting in the role of parent by not only bringing a child into the world but keeping him/her hostage under the present circumstances. Instead of obsessing about your irrational H, concentrate on doing everything that is in the best interests of your child for he/she is the only innocent person in this sad situation.
