I have to say the Mom thing is strange. It will cause problems I think!
My stepchildren call me by my first name and it is just fine and natural, I think. Thats what stepfamilies do usually. Mine do call me a different form of my name to make it more personal.
Example-- if my name were Gina, I'd have them call me GeeGee- its cute and more kiddie-like but stuck.

My stepsons call me by my first name.
Oc, we have not thought about that she is only 1 and right now, we dont have much contact, but for her b-day & christmas when we send her stuff we sign it from Daddy & my name.
For her b-day I specifiy I bought her something By myself and bought a card and signed it
Love Always, your stepmommy
And signed my name.
I think the whol mommy calling can get sticky but thats JMO
