Kt, I know you homeschool your children and I am interested in it. As you know, angelbaby is only two years old, but I like to plan ahead.

I know for sure I do not want to send her to a public school, so I've though about private but I'm sure they are almost just as bad.

I'd actually like for her to go to a school up until 3rd grade, because I think after that is an age where kids can start doing some bad things ya know. So do you know if it's possible to send your child to a school for a couple years and then homeschool them? Also is it expensive?

oh and I don't want to be the one homeschooling, because I have my career and all, but would like to pay someone to do it. Will they need to pass some sort of exam?

I know I could probably research the internet, but I wanted to hear about from a person actually doing the program.

Paying someone else to do it? Like a tutor?

THAT would be EXPENSIVE! IT technically would not be considered homeschooling but hiring a private tutor. Like child stars do when they are working during the school year.

Now 'homeschooling' done by the actual parent requires a bit more legal research in some states.

You have to look into specefic laws for your state. Unfortuneatly, each state is different & homeschooling requirements can even be different from school district to district.

Generally speaking, you can take your kids out of school to homeschool whenever you want as well as re-enroll them. IT looks more suspicious during off times, like in the middle of the year & stuff. Best to do it when regular school starts & ends but legally you can do it anytime.

The BEST thing to do NOW, before your child is school age, is to research, research, research. Get to know your state laws, get in touch w/ other homeschoolers, look up curriculum packages, homeschooling styles ect.

As far as the academic portion of it---------homeschooling is growing in popularity every year so there is TONS of stuff marketed directly to homeschoolers. YOu can order your entire years worth of curriculum in one box if you wanted. OR you can personalize it w/ a hodge-podge of rescources.

More states are also catering to those who want to homeschool (then the state can still get $$$$$$$ for those students). SO they provide you w/ complete curriculum materials for FREE. Just like PUBLIC school & you are accountable to public school standards & requirements but you do all the basic teaching. There are pros & cons to whatever path you choose.

For you, I would also reach out to single homeschooling moms to see how it works for them & how they do it. (hats off to them!) Because they are out there.

Let me know if there's anything else you want to know. I can go on for daaaaaaaaayyyys about it. LOL

Okie doke. Thanks Kt.

I would do homeschool her myself if I could, but since I'm single...somebodys gotta make the money and she's not of age yet j/k

Maybe I could hire a nanny that will watch her and homeschool her. I dunno. All I know is no way am I sending her to public school so if I have to start saving now, then I will.

But, for now I will research...

PS: & since there are still a few more years until she is of school age..............you just don't know what could happen or how your life will change from now until then.

I know you are NOT an OW but I do know of a FOW personally.

Her OC is 4.5 yo.
Her life has changed DRAMATICALLY in the last 5 years.

XMM left his W, but FOW had started going back to church & told him he needed to return to his W & BC & they would not be together becuase it was WRONG & a HUGE mistake (pg or NOT). Unfortuneatly he could not get over his guilt & own issues & D his W & moved out of state.

She welcomed him to be a part of OC life but he pretty much refused & has seen OC about 3 x in her entire 4.5 years.

SO FOW goes on w/ her life, serving God & being the best single mom she can be. There are soem pretty down & low moments but she is trusting in GOD for whatever life brings her.

She meets a wonderful man in church. HE prays for months before asking her out on a 'date'. They do eventually go out, get together & like a fairy tale, got married last year. He will be adopting FOC too.

She soon became pg-----------WITH TWINS no less. She is now a FULL-time SAHM & those 2 precious bundles of joy should be arriving any day now!

She dreamt of homeschooling too but wasn't sure if it would be possible when the time came. Imagine that?

Now......her FOC will start kinder next fall & who knows what they will do..............but FOW counts her blessings EVERY DAY!

So all that just to say.............you just don't know what GOD has in store for YOU!

Sorry to threadjack but ktbunch that was just the sweetest and greatest story of a FOW. I LOVE that her life is so blessed and so wonderful now and that she turned to GOD. I pray that for my ex's OW too. And for him too. How awesome- Brings HOPE. People can change if they let God in their heart and trust HIM.
