Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
This movie IS really good, overall, but is FILLED w/ adultery, one OW even ends up pg.
SO if you are still sensitive, this would be a HUGE triggering movie.
I was totally triggered because it does NOT let up because it is NOT just ONE instance.
So....be careful.

Great movie.
If you don't know about Ray Charles' bio, he was actually a OC himself. His dad was married and a railroad man and his mom was just one of the OWs he had at various stops. This wasn't shown in the movie.
What wasn't also shown is that Ray had a few other OCs before his marriage ended in the mid 70's.

My H saw a newspaper interview with one of Ray's 12 children!!! I believe his wife only had a couple of them. This movie triggered me also! I saw it a few months ago, I remember warning everyone.
Still......Jamie Foxx did such an outstanding job! He made you believe he was Ray Charles.

His wife had three of his children. Out of the 12 children, his youngest is a boy age 17. You might have heard on the news that after he died, the mother of this one petitioned the court to have her child support raised from $3000 a month to $60,000 a month. She has since apologized for asking for such an astronomical sum and says she will be quite satisfied with only $15,000 per month.
Ray left an estimated fortune of about $100 million that will mostly be split among his kids anyway. The biggest fight is who will control and benefit most from future royalties.
Just a few years ago, he gave each of his kids $1 million tax free so its not like any of them are hurting for money.

Dang! I do want to see this movie because he is just so talented and I hear Jamie Fox is so good, well heck he won an award. I think he showed a new style of his acting in this by what I've heard.

Interesting....the movie makes it seem like he stopped his 'philandering' once he stopped the drugs!
As far as acting goes....excellent, I hope Jamie Foxx does get that Oscar.

NOT TOLD IN THE MOVIE:
Ray Charles Robinson was born on September 23, 1930 in Albany Georgia. His father was Bailey Robinson, a railroad repair man, and his mother was 'Retha. His father never married his mother. His legal wife was Mary Jane, who also helped to raise Charles. Marriages: Eileen Williams on July 31, 1951. Marriage ended in divorce in 1952. One child.
Della Beatrice Howard Robinson on April 5, 1955. Marriage ended in divorce in 1977. Three children. Della was one of his original Raelettes.
Charles's performing and touring did take a toll on his personal and family life, however. His second marriage, to Della Howard, produced three children, but two paternity suits in the early 1960s revealed that he had fathered several more children out of wedlock.

Hmmm...I wonder WHY they only show ONE W, Della Bea, & when they removed Georgia's ban on him (thought it was 1979?) They show Della Bea standing w/ him as hiw W.
Interesting.....
Oh well, I liked when the first OW (that they showed) got mad @ him (for cheating on her w/ a new OW ) & threw a BRICK into the window of his nice car!LOL

Amazing how the song "hit the road Jack" came about! And yes, that is interesting because Della Bea WAS standing with him at the GA ban removal. I am kind of disappointed now because I loved the movie and it didn't really trigger me because he, I thought, turned his life around so I had hope for others to do the same!
