The news article I read suggested that Charles only proposed due to political pressure over finances. Seems he was spending over $500,000 & the country didn't look kindly spending that kind of $$$ on your MISTRESS but would find it 'honorable' to be supporting your WIFE! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

I was listening to a program about this and no matter how hard the Royals want to spin this, the people are not happy about it.

I think that that family is a farce anyway. I think the taxpayers in GB should not have to foot the bill for these parasites.

And now the QUEEN won't even be attending!!!!!!!

From the interviews I've seen I don't think Charles was ever in love with Diana in the first place. He probably just married her because she walked,looked and talked the part of a princess. I don't think Camilla will ever fill THAT role the way Diana did. He probably should have just married Camilla in the first place. Would have saved Diana all of that grief. Of course, I think she came out of it stronger, did tons of good work for the world at large and had two beautiful boys. So...everything happens for a reason.

I am an American living in England with my English H. Over here to be honest most people could care less that they are getting married. Though it is in the papers and discussed to great depths everyone I know are just fine with the fact they are getting married.

As far as Diana, can I also point out she had a large number of affairs also. I should know the OM keep selling their stories, letters, mementos and are on the TV talking about their time with her.

OK back to the wedding. The reason why the Queen is not going to the actual wedding is becuase they have to get married in a registry office. The orginal plan was they were going to get married in Windsor castle but to do that they need a license and once they have the license the Queen would have to allow anyone to marry there for three years. She refused to have this as an option. Plus since both Camilla and Charles are divorced they cannot get married in the Church. It is the rules over here. This is why they are having a blessing after in Windsow Castle chapel.

The Queen is not against going to the wedding she is hosting the reception and will be at the blessing but due to security issues will not be at the registry for the actual wedding. William and Harry will be at the wedding along with Camilla's children.

Regarding the so called public funds that is not true. As the Duke of Cornwall Charles owns a huge lump of land in Cornwall. Cornwall is one of the most sought after areas to live in England. Trust me on this Cornwall is a wonderful slice of heaven on earth. But he owns it not the government and can do as he pleases with the income he earns on it. In fact Charles does not recieve public funds to live off of per se and pays taxes on the money he does.

Up till 1992 or 1993 the royal family did not have to pay taxes but the majority of people were livid about this and the Queen had to agree to start paying taxes on her vast fortune. She is the second richest woman in the UK after J.K. Rawlings (Harry Potter writer). Charles had been paying taxes even before the Queen.

I am by no means a monarchist like my H. I see them as a usless drain on the economy. They are wealthy in their own rights but the government still pays for the upkeep on all the houses and like without the access by the people. My H has met Charles and really likes him.

In my previous marriage I lived with a serial cheater. I know first hand the pain but I think it is just time to allow them to move on with their lives.

I also agree that Diana and Charles should have never married but alas it was an arranged marriage. Diana's family is even older aristocracy than the Queens. It was quit the feather in their cap to have the soon to be future queen come from their family. Diana's family have made a fortune off her death. We are talking billions. Diana knew full well what she was getting into when she married. It is just a shame that neither Charles nor Diana had the curage to tell their families no.
