This is something that was started on Cody's thread at the end w/regard to KaylaAndy's heart problem, etc....

Do you think heart palpitations occasionally, but regularly over the years is something really alarming? The kind where your heart skips a beat in your chest-- like a flutter or something out of the blue? I worry from time to time but mostly just blow it off..... but figure I'd give it a whirl in getting someone to tell me this happens to everyone---- since its on my mind! LOL

I know your sister is the doc (CLO) but you seem a bit educated on the subject? I am a non-doctor person. I dont go unless I am forced. I must be almost dying...

anyone else have this?

Hey Gio,

You should let your doctor know about it. I have palpitations too. It feels like your heart is going to jump out of your chest. Mine get so bad that I end up coughing and I feel like I'm going to cough my heart out! LOL!
I have a misfiring of the electrical conductivity in part of my heart but I know that stress and anxiety makes it worse. I think people who have pannick attacks get palpitations too. (?)
I would tell your regular doctor about it though.

Gio,
I don't usually post over here, because I'm so terribly versed on really helping these brave souls..but I saw your thread..and thought I'd have a go.

I have LAF... (Lone Atrial Fibrillation) ...

I was born with a murmer... my son was diagnosed with SVT when he was 9.

I've "misplaced" the sinus rythym of my heart, also related to electrical misfirings.

I no longer have the normal thump thump, thump thump...that we all take for granted. This was mistaken 3 times at the ER for palpitations.

It doesn't hurt to get checked out.

It's actually good to have baseline stuff run... this way if something DOES show up..you're doctor will have a good reference point.

Stress, caffeine... many things can cause palpitations...LAF...can be triggered by the strangest of things... eating a large meal... one man went into AFIB for 6 hours after drinking a slushie too fast.

Good luck to you !!

Gio, my sister had similar experiences. She was always told she had an irregular heartbeat, but they never said why. When she was in her early 40's she began to get very fatigued, and have heart palpatations. It turned out she had an extra AV node. One was beating normally and the other would beat irratically. They had minor surgery and burned one off. She lost a lot of weight (it was messing w/ her metabolism), and she feels much better.

Thank you CLO, BIJersey and Wife30.

My problem is something that does not ever hurt, but that flutters here or there, maybe a couple times a week. I often wonder if this is something I have to worry about, or if it is something that happens normally from time to time with others.

I need to get it checked out I suppose (waaa- yuk)..

I appreciate your input and time you took to respoind!

Gio
