Donna,
I want you to know I Love You with all my heart & soul. When we were married & we stood up in front of our friends, our family, our God and each other and said our vows, I meant every word I said, especially to you. You have been the most important part of my life & I would do anything for you.
I understand I haven't been the best husband in the world, but I have Loved You. I do take my share of the problems we have had. I didn't understand how you were feeling about us. Why couldn't you just trust me enough to let me know how you were feeling before this happened?
I will never understand how you could leave the girls. They are at the age where they need their mother, but you seem not to care at all. As long as you are doing what makes you happy. How could you be happy leaving your children? You told me you would never leave me for another man. You did. You told me you could NEVER move across the U.S. & not be near the girls. You did. Micele resents you for leaving. She gets ticked off whenever you call. Melissa thinks she will never see you again. She told me if I died, she would go live with Grammy or Nana. She didn't mention you at all. You don't know how much this hurts me to hear them say things like that.
Donna, I pray you will never feel the pain I have. The lies are what have hurt me the worst. We have never had many arguments, so why did you feel you couldn't talk to me? I have always been understanding. What did I do to make you feel this way? You told me I never bought Coke. So what? You never asked me to. I had no problem with it. Before you left I poured my heart out to you about us. You hardly said anything at all. I still don't know what went wrong, except you left.
Why do you think it won't or can't work for us? I KNOW it can. We can learn how to communicate our needs and feelings to each other and how to meet those needs. I want to be your partner in life. We have shared so much together, but I feel as if it meant nothing to you. We have been together for more than half our lives & I would do it all again with you Donna. Yes, I would change a few things, but I cannot think of ANY reason not to do it again with you!
I apologize for not being the person you wanted me to be. Everyone is an individual and we do change over time. If we had been more open with each other, we could have understood the other & not gotten into this situation.
Donna, I truly wish you happiness. I would like to share it with you & I am doing everything I can to get there, but I can't do it alone.
May God Bless you, Jesus watch over you, and the Holy Spirit guide you in your journey.
I Love You! That's good Chris.
How did you feel when you found the note behind the couch? Did it relate to Donna - your feelings? Is everything related to how you feel about Donna? Maybe Plan B time? - to work on YOU, and your needs? I'm just throwing that out there for thought.

Chris, I'm sending you a big hug. It is so beautifully written and from your heart. How can she not see what a wonderful man she is giving up??? And I can't even think about her lack of feelings for the girls. Hang on Chris, soem day you will get the love and respect you deserve.

Okay, I'm probably guilty of seeing this through my own situation. But I see a few disrespectful judgements here. Are you interested in knowing how she feels? Or just in expressing your anger that she doesn't feel the way you think she SHOULD feel?
And how about giving some specific examples of places where you've screwed up and what you would do differently. You're pretty defensive.
I'm not disagreeing with you, Chris, I just don't think you should send this letter. It won't help. I'm realizing that I've been guilty of this. I keep hammering away at my husband with all the reasons why he's WRONG to leave me. I've just come to realize that the way I treat him now is a reflection of the way I've treated him in the past. As if I knew all the answers and his opinions or feelings didn't matter.
I could have written this letter, so believe me, I know where you are coming from. And like I said, I'm probably just reading into this my own situation and every situation is different.
I'm signing off, now, but I'm happy to discuss this further. Back tomorrow!
