Try charting your cycle using natural family planning. There's lots to learn about cycles and hormones. You can learn if each phase of your cycle is the "right" length to support a pregnancy, and when you are most fertile.

Couple to Couple League (a Catholic organization teaching nfp) also has a book (by Marilyn Shannon) that shares simple fertility things most doctor's don't know (example: some women's cycles are affected by too much light at night).

A doctor would probably give you clomid, which increases the chance of multiple implantations.

BTW, you won't get many replies on THIS board; it's for people experiencing a child conceived OUTSIDE the marriage~!

Good luck!

I've been there done that and have twin girls to show for it. I think someone else on the board went throug it too.
First of all, who were you tested by? Your ob or a Fertiltiy specilist? How old are you? I'm not sure if you or your h has had an affair, but have you both been tested for for std, and other things that you would need to be treated for? My next question is a personal one and you don't have to answer it, but can answer to yourself if you want. Do you have normal periods? The reason is there is something out there called pcos. It can be treated, but never goes away. What happens when you ovulate you only drop the eggs in your ovaries and then they eventually turn into like pearl of beads. They drop all the way down as they are suppose too. The stats indicate that 10% of all infertitlte couples are unexplained. Have they done an Ultra Sound on your ovaries?

We tried for one year and a half without success ... Dr told me I had PCOS ... look up in the web for symptoms ... My Dr didn't even did an U/S since not everyone necessarily have cysts ... I tried Glucophage/Metformin (which is for diabetics ) and two months/two cycles later I got pregnant ... but as NTMO said - it will never go away ...
Good luck!

I know quite a few that have taken it with great sucess in more ways than one . They can do a blood test to check it too. It has to be done on a certain day of your cycle though. I am one in 3% of woman who have pcos that have a regular cycle. It's not common to, but it does happen. So even if you have a regular cycle get tested for it. There are also other signs of it, but the blood test is the sure kicker. You can be more hairier (is that a word?), have weight more around your hips or problem loosing weight. I lost most of weight without problems although I have larger hips, but in portion, KWIM? There are also other things you may have that is not common to test for, but could be the reason. Mily thanks for reminding me of the meds. Very good point. Also, endometrios. I have that too and the only way to see if you have it, is through a lap. No blood work or ultra sounds or x rays.

Mily that sucks! I don't have the major weight gain, and I do have my monthly cycle every month, which only 3% do with PCOS. I'm glad to hear that the meds worked for you. Some of my friends that took it started loosing weight too when they got on those meds. Thanks goodness I can just watch what I eat or exercise in order to keep my wieght off, instead of taking those pills. I'm glad the pills worked for you.

Txs
It was horrible ... after I stopped taking the pill, I gained 25 pounds in 4 months!!!!!
Acne, hairs-everywhere, irregular (24-78 days) cycles, hormones all over the place ...

Right now, after baby, after affair, after divorce, I'v lost 45 pounds ... back to my pre-marriage weight - woo-hoo!!!

I take Met 3 times a day ... and THEY WORK GREAT!!! - except some IBS once in a while, I don't mind taking them .. I would never want to go back to that again

What is that? Like I said, I've heard great stories of that medicaine. I'm sure all the stress you were under did not help, but hey 45 pounds? That is wonderful! Sorry on how it came to be though. I heard Met was great. There was another one that Pcos girls were using before, but when Met came out, they are switched to that. Keep up the good work. I'm trying to talk a friend into taking the met too. She is so misserable and on progrestone to start every month and all. Now dow is keep you regular on it too?

My Cousin had a real hard time getting P. These were different things she was told and tried. She finally got P., but there is no way to tell exactly why she was finally able to get P. There are just some suggestions: find out your ideal weight, if you are under weight then gain until you are at your ideal, if you are overweight then lose until you are at your ideal, even if you are at your ideal weight start exercising both lifting weights and aerobic type exercise like walking, jogging, aerobics, etc. The better shape you are in the better your body works at everything including possibly getting P. If you are already working out and you push your body to hard then slow down. Try a yoga class to relax. Take a good multi vitamin and mineral. Eat healthy lots of fruit, vegatables, and whole grains. Try cutting out junk food, fast food, and sugars. Even if you are at your ideal weight that does not necessarily mean you eat healthy. An old tale (maybe zero truth to it, who knows) both you and your HUsband eat lots of yams. In some forign countries they believe it makes you more fertile. Use self talk. Tell yourself in your mind and out loud I am P., I am getting P., I am having a healthy baby very soon, etc. They say the power of our words and thought are very powerful. Just some ideas. Only try what you are comfortable with.
Good Luck & God Bless,
Stormy
