If you're into artsy things, get the local high school's calendar and attend the chorus concerts, band/orchestra concerts, dance performances, and theatre productions. Always cheap and you'd be surprised what those young folks can do!
I also personally like the feeling of community and sense of being grounded that I get from attending a High School event.

Good Idea! We live close to a christian college and a community college and have attended some of their activities: plays, concerts, Christmas programs, sports, etc. They have always been fun.
