Back when we were really really having a tough financial time (and I was 7 months pregnant to boot!) I surprised him by setting up the tent in our own backyard.

When he got home from work we 'camped' - grilling out, eating and drinking from the things I packed in the cooler. We watched a small portable battery operated tv in the tent, and slept in sleeping bags that night.

It was silly... but we have photos to prove we camped in our backyard when we couldn't afford to camp at a real campground that weekend, and my husband didn't have the time off anyway! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

(PS: This was in Southern California - in the city. So you don't have to live in a rural area to do this!).

Cute idea! I've done this in the past with our children when they were small, but not with my husband. We'll have to try this one someday.
