That feels better already!
Just got off the phone with my kids a little while ago as this is their weekend with their mother.
I was informed by my 9 yo son that Mike(om)gave him some cologne today. He's (my soon that is)been after me to get him some and I figured that a 9 yo didn't need cologne. Even though he wore me down and I got him deodorant a couple weeks ago.
Then my 12 yo daughter told me she saw Scream 3, which is rated R. She had asked to see it before and I said no. I guess the good(?)part is she watched it with her mother.
I can't understand this woman. Before she wouldn't let the kids watch anything with witches, even Sabrina. But now she is allowed to watch an R rated movie ??????????
Why is she is such a hurry to have them grow up ?
My son also told me she took them car shopping today. HUH! Why would you take a 9 and 12 yo car shopping other than she doesn't know what to do with them. She did manage also to take them to KMart for the umpteenth time in a row. The best weather we have had for months and the kids are indoors all day all weekend. She make me so proud!!!!!
------------------
"You can't always get what you want! um, bob ????

can you say
P-A-R-E-N-T-A-L--G-U-I-L-T ???????
I've heard rumours that the symptoms are:

letting the kids have their way....
letting the kids have grown-up acroutrements....
letting the kids have what you know the other parent does not want them to have...
taking the kids on shopping sprees...
spoiling them in every other way possible....
I've even heard tell that it is exremely prevalent amoungst the newly divorced...
so, the cure....you get a 2x4,....naw, nevermind......
just be the one to set the better example...
I lik the steam coming out of your ears....it's a good look for you....LOL
Dylan
Dylan,
I think you have hit the nail on the head. My son was rolling on the floor laughing last week because a friend of his tols him the only reason he was getting all these new toys is that his mother told him we were trying to buy his affection.
I do like the 2x4 idea by the way. Which one do I wack first ? Do I need two ?
Also the steam covers my bald head LOL.
Bob

This is the issue that makes me sooooo mad! The cr@p with the kids....the relationship is so "crazed" and the betrayers do not want to hear anything negative about thier new life from their kids, not hear the anger the kids need to express to them, and they no longer have a clue about what activity to do with the lids.
My EH takes my 13 year old to movies (or rents them when she is over with OW and OW daughter and no matter what my d states, she has no choice but to watch and then she comes home and has nightmares for a week and ends up sleeping in my bed which i do not want, try to dissuade her from, but hey...guess what, her dad and OW can sleep without having to deal with any of the aftermath of any of this!!!Real nice!!!!!
One day H will buy d make up so that she can look like bimbo, then he will tell her to dress like his little girl and wear no make-up!!!!
There is no consistency, no boundaries or anything and guess who has to do the clean up each time...you got it. And all the while the kids are manipulated into a situation where they have to behave to OW in a certain way or papa lets them have it and is a b@stard to them emotionally!
Underneath the kids have it all worked out to play me up against their dad to get what they can.....and papa is playing this game which I refuse to do, but I provide all the necessities, he does zilch and then when they have what they need, he steps in to compete and ups the ante. I have told my kids that I will not play this game. H can buy what they need or I can but it is not a competition to see who can provide the best or most.
Sorry to vent on your post. Take care
Hi RWD,
I'm sorry for what you are going through, how revolting. Luckily my 2 girls aren't old enough for him to be playing that game - yet.
I did want to share something with you tho, about the movie Scream.
I'm pretty sure it was related to Scream 3, but some kids over here had a sleepover, they were aged about 10, and the parents hired that movie. Well, one girl was so frightened she actually went almost into a coma. I don't remember the medical terminology for it. She was admitted to a psyche hospital, and didn't speak for about a week. It literally scared her almost to death. There was a huge furore over here about it, for the same reasons that you said. It is rated R. What are 10 year olds doing being allowed to watch it...
The only reason I say this is for you to just watch your child. Who knows what they they think and dream about. My 4 1/2 yo came downstairs tonight after being put to bed, saying she was thinking bad thoughts, and she was scared. She ended up telling me she was thinking about stealing. I have no idea what that is about, or where it has come from. Any questioning on my part was met with "I don't bebemember". I'm sure it will come out over the next few days, however, my point is this, we don't always know what they are thinking. And little people are sometimes the deepest thinkers of all.
I think some ground rules must be agreed to, between you both, so movies like Scream never feature in your childrens lives again. Not at this stage anyway.
hugs to you
Jo

I called my x this morning and in order to prevent a meltdown, I told her our daughter was playing us. She asked how and I told her that I had said no to watching Scream. She said she had no idea I had said that and that she ws sorry. Her reasoning for allowing her to watch an R rated movie ?
Our daughter has been seeing alot of R rated movies lately. HUH! Not at my hosue she hasn't. Its at her mothers she as been seeing them. Also my D has a friend whose parents are divorced and I think the exhusband plays the game allowing the girls to do about anything including seeing R rated movies.
This afternoon I think I will call the om and tell him I don't appreciate him giving my son personal gifts, especially when it was something I wouldn't buy him.
