My H says that he would like to try and work on the marriage and said his attorney mentioned mediation as a way of reconciling. My attorney talked to me about divorce mediation as far as working out a divorce settlement.
Has anyone done the mediation thing? If so, is there such a thing as mediation for reconciliation?
I'm willing to give it a shot. Especially, since my H seems to be giving it an honest effort. He has agreed to go to counseling! Thats a big step for him.

My husband and I are going through the mediation thing. It is certainly saving a lot of attorney fees. We are coming to a financil agreement. I have had to give some even though I am the one who has been wronged.
Hope that you can work for a reconciliation. Right now, it's doubtful that we can.
Good luck.
Martha

Hi Martha,
Thanks for the info. I was told that mediation was much cheaper than the attorney fees. Either way, it sounds like it is something to look into.

Tulip,
My h and I used mediation to settle our divorce. It doesn't sound like that is really what you are asking. It was a great way to go. We avoided the emotional battle that court would have been. It was in the best interest of the children to settle this way. I found it pretty easy because I have let go of my STBX h and am forging ahead w/a life of my own. If there is still alot of anger, trust issues etc, it might be a hard route to go. I live in Washington and it is a not fault state and assets are split 50/50. The mediator got me more of the assets, because of my health issues (diabetic 31 years and havent worked in 10). My h is paying maintenance for a short time and child support for my daughter. I found it very fair. I think court would have cost too much emotionally, everybody getting out the big guns, his affair, my attempts at suicide, it could have been very ugly. But we settled our deal in 7 hours and believe me at the rate we paid it was a bargain.
I have also heard of Christian mediators that negotiate the healing of the marriage before they will talk breaking of the marriage. My h is not religious and would never have wanted to try this option. I hope I helped.
Gerri
