These devotionals are so powerful. Hope they help all who are in need. Have a great day. Kevin
-----------------------------------
N E I L A N D E R S O N D A I L Y D E V O T I O N A L
from Freedom in Christ Ministries
March 14
GOD WORKS IN THE ORDINARY
He [God] Himself has said, "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
A devout Christian heard an urgent news report on his radio that a flash flood was within minutes of entering the peaceful valley where he lived. Immediately he went to his knees and prayed for safety. The words were still on his lips when he became aware that water was gushing under his door. He retreated to the second floor and finally onto the roof of his house.
While he sat on the roof, a helicopter flew by and the pilot asked over the loudspeaker if they could lift him off. "It's not necessary since I have the Lord's protection," he replied.
Moments later the house began to break up and he found himself clinging to a tree. A police boat, braving the waters, approached him for rescue, but he assured them that the Lord would save him. Finally, the tree gave way and the man went to his death.
Standing before the Lord, he asked, "Lord, I'm glad to be here, but why didn't You answer my prayer for safety?"
The Lord responded, "Son, I told you over the radio to get out of there Then I sent you a helicopter and a motor boat!"
Nowhere in the Bible are we given the idea that God works only in the extraordinary. Much of the time He supernaturally works through His created order. Many people think God is present only when there is a miracle and that He leads only through signs and wonders.
There are people who always look for a sign. They walk by sight, not by faith. To them, God is only present in the miraculous. God was "really" at the church service if something unusual happened. Many desire and look for "visitations" from God.
But how does that square with God's omnipresence and the fact that He will never leave us or forsake us? Isn't God at every church service? Since God created the fixed order of the universe, would you expect Him to work primarily within that fixed order or outside of it? If God gave us a watch, would we be honoring Him more by asking Him what time it is or by simply consulting the watch?
Lord, forgive me for looking for signs when I only need to trust Your Word and live by Your promises.
-----------------------------------------------
Today's Verse for Tuesday, March 14, 2000 Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to gooodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
 2 Peter 1:5-8
New International Version
THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE...
Wow! What a message. God wants us to be productive in our lives. He wants us to have more than just head knowledge. He wants us to put it to work in our lives and be effective and productive with it. But, I've got to put out some effort and try to grow in these qualities. Peter is saying, "Okay folks, God wants you to get after it and make a difference through your life!" I'm ready! Let's begin today.
MY PRAYER...
Holy God, I am going to put out the effort to grow in your grace. Please bless my efforts and receive them as my heartfelt appreciation for loving me when I was unlovable and redeeming me when I was lost. I want to be productive to your glory in my life with Jesus, through whom I pray. Amen.
Hi Hopefull_1,
Thanks my friend for the prayers. I have faith that God is working in Lor, and help her lift some of the pain and anger that is causing her to take these steps. If you haven't seen yet, there is a post quite a ways down titled: "update: Divorce papers". That pretty much says it all. My spirit is well, but I have some worries that I keep taking to God, and they keep coming back today.
I read your post. It looks like you are getting some good advice. I have you and the W on my prayer list. She sounds alot like I was, could not commit, because I was in withdrawl for such a long time (kept getting contact). I couldn't even make a plan for the next day, I was that paralyzed. If she is not making contact, this will pass. Satan starts to lose his power, and it really nags him when we pray for that person. So, I'll just pray extra hard for your W, tonight. Keep the prayers going for me and my W. She's struggling with alot of things.
BTW, have you tried the book "Lifetime Guarantee (Making your christian life work, and what to do when it doesn't). It's a great book. I am also getting these daily devotionals from Neil Anderson's web site, that are just fantastic.
Take care, my friend in Christ. Kevin
