I'd like to be a Canada Goose!
For the last three days I have had the opportunity to watch the most fabulous pageant right outside my kitchen window. It is so miraculous that I had to share it.
About 100 yards from my house there is a pond. A pair of geese have decided to call it home. Imagine this! They are never more than five feet from each other. When they fly it is like synchronized swimming in the air. Even on the ground. When one eats the other guards.
This is the ultimate in fidelity, protection, care, communication.....
Imagine living a life with a mate who will be faithful for life. No alternatives. A mate who watches over you, is family oriented, and completely dedicated!
Sometimes as I watch the tears stream out of my eyes. I'm not sure what kind of tears they are exactly. Jealousy? Sadness? Joy at the sight of a miracle? Maybe a mixture of all of the above.
Canada Geese usually nest in the same spot each year. What a fabulous thing to look for each spring. I've decided I have to name them. Any suggestions?

NOT Romeo and Juliet (that was a fantasy also!!!!!)
HOw about Paul and Joanne. I think the Newman's have had a long marraige that had it's own difficulties that they have managed to surmount!!!!!!
Nothing else comes to mind tonight. I'll be anxious to hear other suggestions.

My suggestion may sound silly to everyone but me, but here goes:
Harry and Edna, my grandparents names. They were married in 1928 and had 14 children together. After the first 4 were born, Harry left Edna for another woman but came back within a year. During that time he had a daughter with the OW. They must have worked it all out because they stayed together until Harry's death in 1973. Edna is still living and never remarried. She has been a widow for almost 27 years. True love!!!
Ok, so I cast my vote for Harry and Edna! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Mitzi

I like them both!
tootrusting
That marriage would have to be very strong in Hollywood! I like both names too.
Mitzi
Thanks for sharing the story. My maternal Grandmother was Edna!
On my dad's side ther is a very similar story. Grandpa had a child with the cleaning lady. But Grandma and grandpa stayed together forever.
Keep the suggestions coming. I may have to put them in a hat.
Tonight I saw one goose alone and panicked. Am I too attached already?

[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
shopping Huh?
You should see this. It is too neat. There is a pair of ducks that seems to be following them. The Lady wants to nest up in the tallest tree in an old nest but a hawk keeps chasing her off. I may never get any work done again!
Sheba
Yes I cringed. But I like Mary and Buddy. Glad your going to E me. Thought maybe I went to crazy last time I talked to you and you had given up on me.
I really am going to put these all in a hat.

hey there fellow canadian girl!!!!!!
actually, George and Gracie come with a funny infidelity story....
George Burns cheated on Gracie...ONCE.
He felt so horrible that he brought her a sterling silver coffee set...(this was in the 1930's, and these things cost a fortune)....gracie knew about it, but NEVER mentioned it (after making sure it was over)....
years later though, at tea with a friend, Gracie looked lovingly at the coffee set and supposedly said..."I wish George would cheat once more...I would really like the matching tea service"....
LOL...

Murphy
Shame on you!
I think that was a bigger cringe than soul and mate!
George and Gracie seem to fit and no one here has objected. They are my geese so I guess H and son will just have to put up with whatever I choose.

George and Gracie just sound so good together don't they?
ANd since this is a "pet" post, does anyone know how to retrieve a lost hamster? We have just had this hamster a week. We have one of those plastic cages with attics and loops.
The attic lid must not have been on tight enough, and so he is gone.. My son is very upset. Is there a way to set a trap?

The wayward hamster returned. My son woke up when he heard the treadmill. We decided he was on an adventure. Maybe this is a "sign"
