OK, for those of you wondering what to do this first-weekend-after-Memorial-Day.
Go to your video store and rent a little number called A WALK ON THE MOON.
Particularly if you are now over 40. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Yeah, it's an "infidelity" movie, but handled much more deftly than usual; deals with the complex emotions involved.
Yes, OM looks like the cover of a romance novel (Viggo Mortensen), but his character doesn't have any traits, other than looks, to drive the character towards him.
It's a terrific little character study. HIGHLY recommended.
Discussion group to take place on Monday. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

Ahem,
Did I say alot of time? I meant some time in the evenings when we should be relaxing after a long day working in OUR OWN yards. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Of course, today I am going on a garden tour to look at other peoples perfect yards and be inspired to work on my own tomarrow.
Lora

You know, a weekly movie pick is not a bad idea. An even better one is periodic discussions of divorce and/or infidelity-themed movies -- how the subject was handled, motivations of the characters, etc.
If enough people rent this one over the weekend, we might be able to have our first discussion next week.

Next week's has to be "Story of Us" - I bought it I loved it so much... H didn't "get it" like I did, but I find that to be a typical thing with us... [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

Yes, the ending was a tad facile, I thought. In real life, reconciliation isn't that quick. We don't see the rough times that follow.
But I thought the film had a good, realistic view of both sides, and the kid's reaction to the whole thing was priceless.
My review is up at:
http://www.cozzifantutti.com/reviews/walkmoon/walkmoon.htm/
I'll leave this link up for a day or so.

Hey D&C,
Good review.... Now I will HAVE to rent this one. It was out this weekend, so I'll check on my way home tonight.
Thanks for the tip, and I saved the site for future reference. I love to watch movies, but there are so many bad ones mixed in I like to have an idea of what I'm getting before I get it.
I'll let you know what I think about it once I get a chance to watch it.
Butterfly
------------------
There are deep sorrows and killing cares in life, but the encouragement and love of friends were given us to make all difficulties bearable.
-- John Oliver Holmes
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
-- Elie Wiesel

Thanks for the recommendation. I just signed on to the Boards a few minutes ago. I would like to recommend (at the movies) "Love and Basketball" (infidelity is a minor part of the plot with major implications). Also, new release, or at least it was jus shown around here "The Hank Greenberg Story". We took our son to see it.

I watched the movie this weekend. I thought it was good, but you must remember those of us in forced celebacy and lack of affection. Does anyone else cry when they kiss or make love in the movies?
I watched the Story Of Us on a plane going to Hawaii with my H a couple of months ago. I could relate to the silences, not the fights. And the ending was not to real. Luckily we were in business class with seperate screens, so he was watching something else.
Lora

Ok, well the movie was in.... I got it... I liked it a lot. Only thing is, since I'm 'single' again, it made me long for a waterfall and a man! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I can understand the emotions and have felt the "been there done that" part. It made me a little misty a couple of times, but didn't bring any really painfull emotions out. I'm taking that as a good sign, I'm on MY way to recovery. Maybe I'll even be interested in dating again sometime soon. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
If you haven't seen the movie yet... don't read any further!
Did anyone else find the part where the H & the OM were in the same room a little to "goodie goodie"??? I know I would not have had the grace to pull that one off so soon.... if ever [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Thanks for the recomendation Dazed!
Thoughts & Prayers,
Butterfly
------------------
There are deep sorrows and killing cares in life, but the encouragement and love of friends were given us to make all difficulties bearable.
-- John Oliver Holmes
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
-- Elie Wiesel

Absolutely! The H was far classier than a real guy would have been, and the mother-in-law was just too understanding to believe.
I have a Jewish mother, and she is still holding my H's 1989 depression against him. So I found the mother-in-law a bit incredible, though not as much of a caricature as she could have been.
Didn't you think that Viggo M. was just a tad creepy and manipulative, though?
My H and I have booked a vacation at a resort with 14 waterfalls on premises.
