I didn't mean to offend you about the internet affair thing. It's just something I don't really "get" myself. I've heard tons of those pen pal stories before but somehow it seems different. I can't really explain it. When I was having trouble with my H I would sometimes be in chat rooms talikng aobut it. Often men would IM me, asking if I wanted to chat in private. They were nice but it kind of felt like an abrupt invasion of personal space, not like a drawn out pen pal thing. Does that make sense? Plus when I hear the pen pal stories I haven't heard one yet where the guy was stuffing women in trash cans (happened recently) or the woman turned out to be a psycho stalker. I hear those horror stories about internet relationships all the time. I have a 30 year old SG friend who struck up a relationship with a woman on the internet. She was supposedly 27, beautiful etc. Finally she flew in to meet him. She was almost 300 lbs., in her mid fifties and coated in blue eyeshadow and frosted pink lipstick. She was quite eager to be intimate with my friend and he was terrified. He had as hard time getting rid of her after that.It just seems like theyre are so many weird people out there.
Also I guess I'm just strange in a way. There are certain things that just weird me out for some reason. I dated a guy and found out he had a huge porno collection. For some reason it just creeped me out and I never spoke to him again, I just couldn't. Once again, I didn't mean to ofend you, it's just how I feel.

No offense taken...I remember when I first started hearing about these kind of things, it sounded weird to me also. I knew a guy who said he met his 'wife' on the internet and seems to be doing well. I just thought that was kind of odd...until I met someone on-line...and this person in no way fit the bill you described about what happened to your friend. LOL! What a nightmare that would have been.
I think what made my situation so very difficult, was that the person I actually met...was/is a very delightful person. We just didn't do a very good job putting the brakes on the friendship. I just know from my own story now...that the next time I hear of someone who really met that "special-right" person on-line...I will know without question that it is possible.

There was a recent case local to my area where a woman developed a relationship with another man via the internet and the OM arranged to kill her husband with her help. The poor guy was trying to save his marriage and she conspired with this soulless cretin to murder him.
That particular set of circumstances haunts me badly because the OM in the murder case was from the same city as W's OM.
Slightly Sane
Just to throw in my $0.02 . . .
My W had multiple internet affairs. I think we were very fortunate that no one ever showed up. My W had exchanged Emails, and phone calls, and at least one person that I am aware of knew where we lived.
The infidelity alone was more than enough to devastate me, but the potential that existed was frightening.
I realize that there are exceptions to eery rule, but to me, most internet affairs / friendships / etc are inherently dangerous.
God Bless
