After almost 3 months of Guard being in the house, you think it would be easy to believe that we're together. This morning he turned in the keys to his other house. No more safety nets.
We also survived the anniversary of 2 years ago, when he left me the first time and last year, when I discovered his affair had resumed. I've been doing my best not to "remember" bad dates, but this time of year is marked here with a week long Biker Rally and the sound of 500,000 motorcycles and the sight of black leather just gets me teary. He took her there both last years. This year we went together...and nearly ended our reconciliation because I fell apart, read LOVEBUSTING all over. Better now.
I think next year we'll plan a vacation and not participate at all. I felt like this year I needed to endure through it--I do not want her existence or the things they shared to compromise where I can go or what I do. And it was nice to go to the place where they had specifically hung out and have Guard with his arm around me, introduce me as his wife.
I feel like I went firewalking.
You know, my life has been filled with trauma/drama these past 2 1/2 years, I'd like a bit of dullness now, please. Good news, girl! After many anguish-filled nights, my hubby has returned to the man I married.
Though I fight the let's-see-how-long-this-will-last syndrome, I still enjoy his helping me to see he is not fooling around!
Trust me, if he's lying, his actions says he's not. All I want to do is trust him. He has finally given me reasons to trust him again.
Enjoy your love! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
------------------
Love hurts no one.

Guard has been on fire-fighting coordination and working different hours the last couple days. Yesterday in the pm he didn't have to work, but was gone. I'm just at the point where I'm thinking hmmmmm [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] and he comes home, I greet him with a hug and a question. He was gone so long because he fixed one of my tires, had them all rotated, changed the oil, washed & vacuumed my car (my car transports the kids and is usually icky with snack residue). The man's love language is service, and even better, I KNOW that (see THE FIVE LANGUAGES OF LOVE by Chapman). [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Thanks for the good wishes K, Raskal, Kam Mthrrhbard, Paha, NSR, FHL, C or W, NB.
I couldn't have made it without MB & the wonderful people here. I believe we'd have been divorced YEARS ago if I hadn't been on the board nearly every day, and learned what I have. I made mistakes, but I kept THINKING and TRYING AGAIN.
Lu--yeah 6 months ago I didn't even hope for this outcome anymore. This is the longest Guard has lived in the house since Aug 98. There is a change in the kids, of course the oldest is now 15, and we both have pretty much ceased to exist for her, except as drivers [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com].
Terri--hugs to you. Those sessions we had on line where you were such a gentle listener & generous advice giver really made a difference to me. Then when we went through another rather similar circumstance...I think we both made a realization. I believe your husband will realize what a fool he is, I just don't know if he'll realize it in a timely manner--it hasn't been much for timely so far. You are one of my heros!
AGoodPhrend--I think one of the most important lessons I've learned is that if actions and words do not line up or you find yourself saying "this makes no sense" the situation is not resolving and there is something "wrong".
Chris--another hero. Guard & I hit 2 years back in April, so I do have a bit of a time jump on you, even though we landed on MB at the same time in 12/98--it was my 2nd separation. Just like Terri's H, I believe your wife has to/will regret what she has done. Keep being a rock for those girls of yours.
Hugs all around.
