I think there may be a possibility I'm pregnant. This would not be good since my H adamantly wants a divorce.
My period is not due to start for a couple of days, but I've been feeling nauseated a lot the last week. I smoke and they have been tasting awful. I've become more particular about the foods I eat and things I normally like, seem disgusting. Isn't it too soon for morning sickness? I usually have an iron constitution and very rarely feel nausea. Could it just be stress, nerves, eating habits? Maybe part of me wants this and my symptoms are psycological (sp?). How soon can I get an accurate result from a home pregnancy test?
My last P started about 7/26 or 27. My H and I made love on 8/6. He used a condom (only), but (sorry about graphics) when he pulled out, it slipped off. The next morning I noticed semen in and around my vagina. I don't know what to think. Is the timing right?
My H will absolutely flip if I am and probably will still want to leave me anyway. I don't know what to do. How soon can I take a test?
KristyAnn

[This message has been edited by KristyAnn (edited August 23, 2000).]

I have no medical training...so take this as you like. Stress can certainly cause nausea & other symptoms...maybe it's not pregnancy. Nevertheless, the incident you describe and the timing make pregnancy a possibility.
There is a health site (LaurusHealth.com) that I use sometimes...here is what it says about home tests: "The accuracy of home pregnancy tests vary. If used correctly, the best tests can detect hCG as early as the first day of a missed menstrual period (about 14 days after conception)." So, that would suggest you should wait a little bit.
Hang in there--
Kathi

Given your dates, you could have been fertile 8/6 or the next few days.
Depending on how much got deposited and where is hard to determine. It only takes one, of course, but the odds go down when the whole fleet are not sent in to the front line, so to speak [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I think it would show up on a test because you would have been pregnant for at least two weeks.
If your cycle is 28 days, you should be about due.
I'd get a two pack, test today and if nothing happens test again in a few days.
Your emotions can really cause the same symptons.
My best guess is that you probably aren't pregnant, but you owe it to yourself and that baby to find out and take care of yourself.
Take care!

Well I'm a nurse but haven't been in training for awhile. Anyhow, Aug 6 was a little early for your ovulation (usually 14 days from the first day of your period), but due to the fact that it takes awhile for the sperm to reach the egg it could certainly be possible. I remember when I was pregnant with my son. I too smoked at the time and I would gag when I tried to smoke. I actually had some cramping too. But, you also need to remember that a lot of your symptoms could very well be due to your stress. BTW, you can take a pregnancy test right after your period becomes late.

Well, I'm a nurse, but OB not my specialty. However, You can ovulate anytime. And you can become pregnant if you have sex anytime during your cycle. Sperm can live for a very long time...depends on the sperm and the environment it is in.
I found out because I became pregnant with my last child by having unprotected sex right after my period.
Having been pregnant twice before, I knew the signs.... I actually did a at home test before I thought I was due, and sure enough it was positive.
They are not very expensive. My suggestion to you is to do the test. If it is negative and you still do not get your period repeat in a week. It is better to know early so you can begin to take care of youself via diet, vitamins and eliminating the smoking!!!
Keep us posted. I'm sorry you have this extra concern.

I went and bought a home test and it came back negative! I'm so relieved. I had terrible images of anger from my H and him abandoning me regardless of my being pregnant. That is one less thing I have to worry about. I have enough to deal with without that.
Thanks so much for your input and advice.
Prayers and hugs,
KristyAnn
