Although I have made the occasional response to posts, I haven't written much about me over the past couple of weeks. Partly because I'm not quite sure where I am in many respects just now.
Last week, Tuesday afternoon, I was told by the president of our staff union that my current bosses had decided that they didn't need me after last Friday. Considering that a week or two before that they were freaking out about what they were going to do without me, and that we had discussed my staying in the position until the end of the third week of the semester, I was quite shocked to say the least. I wasn't notified EVER by my own supervisors, and I finally got an official "appointment letter" from the College President's office (with my name spelled wrong and addressed to "Mr. Terry ..." - something that I found extremely offensive considering I've worked at this place for nearly 10 years!) on Wednesday afternoon.
I was informed that my first day at my new job would be on Monday 9/11... not even 3 full days notice!
So, since I assumed the duties of the position, I have been VERY busy. However, that has not prevented my supervisor from keeping her nose in my business... Thankfully, the vast majority of people in the college look at me almost as some kind of folk hero because I fought for this job when they gave it to someone with less seniority. I hope that they don't have to watch me going through another grievance for harassment...
It's been a rough week so far and it will get a it rougher tomorrow and Saturday. I have to rehearse for and then sing at a WEDDING while my husband is divorcing me. Now THAT's some talent, huh? Of course, to top things right off, this is my PMS week, too.
I called my husband to say hello yesterday. I don't exactly know why, but I did. He asked me about how the job is going, and was righteously indignant on my behalf about my boss not getting off of my case. He then asked me if I was going to stop by tonight. I told him I might - I had to work until 9pm though. I was kind of happy that he asked.
Then I thought about it and realized that he might only want to see me to ask me more questions his lawyer wants him to ask me. Thankfully, a friend called me and invited me over, so the point was moot.
I am exhausted both physically and mentally from my job at this point. I need to avoid any more stressors for a while - and that means I am going to avoid any conversations about divorce. I think I really need a lawyer of my own, but I cannot afford one of those at ALL!
I will try to post something a little bit more "UP" soon... Thanks for listening.

------------------
terri
Courage
Whatever course you decide upon,
there is always someone to tell you
that you are wrong.
There are always difficulties arising
which tempt you to believe that your
critics are right.
To map out a course of action
and follow it to an end
requires courage.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Terri,
I hate to hear that everything seems to be coming apart all at once. Why can't things just go wrong one at a time with a little breathing space in between ?
I know this will all work out in away that will be best for you. And I'l be praying for that too.
------------------
Deb
Hepatitis C, Please educate yourself ! <A HREF="http://www.hepatitis-central.com/
In" TARGET=_blank>http://www.hepatitis-central.com/
In memory of a very dear friend http://fathom.org/teemingmillions/wally.adp

terri,
You're a strong lady who always finds the ability to help someone else, or lend an encouraging word. That is so inspiring to us. Take care of yourself, and let God continue to mold you into the woman he already knows is in you.
God Bless,
SHA
------------------
There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.

Thanks everybody! I am a better today. The one song I tend to tear up while singing ["There is Love (The Wedding Song)"] was cancelled by the bride at rehearsal tonight because there is no place for it in the ceremony. I am thankful for that, because it was the song I walked down the aisle to and I have literally broken down in tears every time I've tried to rehearse it on my own. The rest of the music I am doing ok with, and it will be over soon - the wedding is at 2pm tomorrow.
I don't want to give you the wrong idea - there is a lot GOOD going on in my life right now - I WANTED to leave the job I was in, and I wanted the job I am in right now, so it is just the lack of notice with regard to the actual timing of the transfer that made it stressful. Now I am doing work I wanted to do, and working with people who really are glad to have me! It's the first time since I started at the college nearly 10 years ago that I have felt like that - and it is a wonderful feeling.
My job is keeping me busy, and, combined with the fact that I had to work at the other part time job on Monday and Tuesday when I was not expecting to do so until my regular days of Wednesday and Thursday - well, I just tired myself right out early on in the week! The wedding bothered me more than I thought it would, and now that the rehearsal is over and the one song has been dropped, I am doing much better... not dreading it so much.
And my union reps are pretty aggravated with my former boss, and they are watching the situation closely to make sure that I am not harassed or treated unfairly. It is an awkward situation in many respects, but the stress in my life has actually lessened! After two days out of my other job, my blood pressure went down two more points on the top and two more on the bottom [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
As for my husband ... well, I think it will be time to go ahead with Plan B soon. I realized tonight that I am now suspicious of every word that he says, searching for double meanings... his seeing a lawyer has made me paranoid that everytime he says something NICE, it is some way to trap me or something (Can you tell I don't much trust lawyers?) I don't like feeling like he is being nice or asking me things because he is trying to soften me up or trick me to say something.
I know I am really getting paranoid for certain... tonight I called him at work because the old junk car that he had left here had been towed away, even though all the other junk cars seem to have taken permanent root - I wanted to see if he had made any arrangements to have it towed or if my landlord had done so. We discussed that issue and then he asked me how my day went. I told him a little about it - and then, after I got off the phone, I started wondering why he had asked me that... did he really care to know, or was he trying to get to some other information without telling me outright... paranoia, see?!
But ... just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they ain't out to get you, right? Wow ... I made it! Sang love songs, smiled at the bride - did an incredible job if I do say so myself...
And I passed on some of the knowledge that I've gained from reading the articles on this site! The accompanist that I sang with today is the 31 year old youngest sister of a close friend of one of my close friends (confusing enough? LOL!) and she was telling me that her boyfriend of 11 years has decided that he wants to live together for a while before they actually get married. I very politely asked her if she'd be open to some information regarding living together and she said yes. I passed on the statistical findings reported here at MB and the basic explanation as to why those who live together can be in greater danger of a failed marriage than those who do not. She was very interested, and I think she will think about this, as she seemed to be a tiny bit reluctant about the idea to begin with (it is her boyfriend's idea). I hope that I've helped at least one person today by having "had" to come here...
I am feeling kind of strange today. I'm not sure exactly what it is I am feeling, though... The last two times I talked to him, my husband sounded, well, "odd." Thick voiced, like very emotional - or maybe it is my imagination? I think I will deliver the letter tomorrow - and try to make some firmer plans with regard to Plan B. Yuck.
I'll be here, lurking...
------------------
terri
Courage
Whatever course you decide upon,
there is always someone to tell you
that you are wrong.
There are always difficulties arising
which tempt you to believe that your
critics are right.
To map out a course of action
and follow it to an end
requires courage.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
