I will be leaving in a couple of hours for an out of town meeting- just 1 night. H is picking up the kids from day care and spending the night with them here, then taking them to school in the morning (complete with breakfast, making lunches, fixing hair, etc.), picking them up from day care tomorrow, then I'll be home late tomorrow night.
The house is spotless, laundry done, kids clothes for tommorrow are laid out. As you may have read in previous post, H is now admitting to being confused about what he wants. I want this to be as pleasant, comfortable and easy as possible. I also wouldn't mind provoking a few of those "Oh my God, what am doing? I can't leave all this" thoughts from him. Do any of you have ideas on how I might provoke such thoughts? I only have a couple of hours.
Cloudy, this is probably too late and not creative...I just wanted to let you know I think you did the best you could.
The difficulty with small kids, is they can't act as automatons. They will act like they want to act. I have a similar problem. I know my H is really exhausted at night when he is here. If he stays at bedtime to at least read to little one, she will constantly get up and try to get him to stay longer....then he bolts.
I feel bad for her and would like to ask her to just be content...but how do you do that with a 5 year old.
I suppose you could have fixed him his fav dinner...or dessert.
Or have the kid (are they too young) make him a dessert....like icecream sundae.
Rent a movie that he might like to see after they are in bed!!!! Have all the cloths laid out!!!!!!
Leave an inspiring short book for him... or a CD that you might like to share.
Write him a poem or letter thanking him for being a great dad!!!!
Really let him know he is appreciated.
