If I run out of room there are lots of hotels within a mile of my house.
Jump on board guys...we do need something to look forward to...we deserve a weekend just for us!
I live in Peoria, AZ. The closest airport is Sky Harbour in Phoenix. It's about 45 mins away from my home.
Just ask if you want more info.
allison

This does sound wonderful! And we can all chaperone each other, LOL! I don't know if I would be able to afford it, but I'd really like to try!
Hey, Allison - what are the temperatures like in your neck of the desert that time of year?
------------------
terri
Courage
Whatever course you decide upon,
there is always someone to tell you
that you are wrong.
There are always difficulties arising
which tempt you to believe that your
critics are right.
To map out a course of action
and follow it to an end
requires courage.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hi Terri,
Wanted this back to the top...and to answer your reply.
I'm not sure where you live, but here we have very mild winters. It's usually about 75 during the days and cool at night. Of course we all complain about freezing to death once the temp goes below 70.
Just check into air fares for the weekend after new years...what can it hurt. We deserve to do something nice for ourselves, and I make a mean pina colada. I'll have the kids be gone, and we can just ramble around in comfy clothes and vent all we want with people who know exactly what we're talking about.
Burnedspouse and CJack also live in Phoenix, and I'll bet a few more "zonies" will come out of the woodwork.
Let's make this happen.
allison

OMG Lasagna...this is sounding better all the time.
Yes, I have a pool, its kinda cool with a waterfall and stuff. Very relaxing.
Listen guys, I don't want this to sound weird, but I have a pretty big house, 4 bedrooms, family room, living room, loft...don't know how much longer I'll have it...so let's take advantage of it. Whoever comes first gets the beds, others can have couches, floor space...whatever.
You are all welcome. If anyone wants, there are several hotels within a mile of the house, so I can make reservations, but please don't feel it's necessary. I would love to have you all.
Okay, first weekend after New Years...don't have a calendar in front of me, anyone pin down a date for this yet.
Call the airlines, cash in those frequent flier miles...pull out the sunscreen...I can't wait!
allison

Allison:
Sun Country (my new favorite airline) flies all over for about a buck and a half, rangin from $139 to $349...it is cheap. I stay in hotels a lot and love the luxury of having a place to come to...loll around in the morning, take a long shower. So, I will stay at a hotel. Thanks for the generous offer, Allison. Pencil me in; I plan on coming. I'm dying to meet Jo and you.
Catnip =^^=

Count me in! Although I'll be officially divorced by then, I'd love to meet some of the people who I only know by their typing. Plus, the weather should be pretty much unbelievable for those of you from Minnesota! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Sounds great Catnip. Theres a Hampton Inn on 83rd Avenue in Peoria, AZ, probably the nicest place around to stay. Let me know if I can get you the number.
CJack you live here don't you? Maybe we can come up with a great place for us all to go one night...you have got to have some connectins in your industry. We may feel more like lolling around, but we can all decide if we feel like it or not.
I love having a plan [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
allison

What a wonderful idea! I would love to join in, but it seems the only certainty in my life at the moment is uncertainty.
In January, I may have a job, then again, I may not. I may be relocated, then again, maybe not. Perhaps, I will know more later as the time nears.
I have relatives in Lake Havasu City that I'd also like to visit. How far are you from there?
Too bad we can't do one of these in each state for those who could afford to drive but not fly.

Now I don't know if I can make it or not. I have worked out a budget and I don't think that I can afford this. This past year has cost so much--with all the moving and getting out of the army and stuff, I have racked up some debts. I could spit nails--I just feel like sending OW a great big bill:
$4,500--pay back re-enlistment bonus, as I took a chapter from the army to go to Japan with my husband, he vowed to pay it for me
$3,000--back childsupport from quitting jobs to go with him, go look for new jobs, come back to states and look for new jobs again
$2,000--legal fees, trying to reduce child support now that I am out of the army, I couldn't pay what I had my BAQ adjusted to when I was in Hawaii. Lawyer ditched me the week before the court date--I wasn't worth his time, but he seemed to be worth my money
Setting up a new household? That always costs money--I have to come up with the security deposit (did I tell you that I finally found an apartment?) My mom is giving me some old furniture to use, but here we are, once again buying toilet brushes, mops, dish rags, curtains, and towels. Sigh.
We'll see when the time comes--maybe I will treat myself to a Christmas present and make it a nice trip--but the little guy's Christmas comes first.
I sure do hope to make it

WAIT A MINUTE, FOLKS!
You have stolen my idea.
No way, I'm not really mad. I am the party goddess of the Divorced/Divorcing board. We also have a shindig planned. Holiday Inn-Brentwood in Nashville, TN January 26-28, 2001. I know there is some overlap on the boards so you may or may not know us. Our group name is Marriage Builders for reservation purposes.
We've been planning since maybe early August.
Go for it and make it to either thing that suits your needs. It sounds wonderful, but unfortunately all of our vacation time is going to the two weeks we spend in South Carolina during Christmas and New Years [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] My MIL has only met our son one time, and she's (understandably!) anxious to see him again.
I hope y'all have a blast! Arizona would be paradise, especially compared to gloomy ol' WA state! But who knows, maybe my H and I can make the MB Reunion sequel (I vote we have it in Hawaii! *LOL*) Have fun, and write the rest of us rain/snow drenched people up north if you get time [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
