We went to Leavenworth, WA this past weekend (a charming little resort town on the east side of the mountains). I was out there for a Mary Kay conference, but after the whole Dallas fiasco, and under Jennifer's advice, I took my H with me on this business trip. [Go Mariners!]
After nearly falling asleep in my first class [Go Mariners!], my H and I opted to paint the town red for the rest of the night. We found a nice suite in town to stay in, and we went to a little sportsbar to have dinner and a couple of drinks. [Sodo Mojo!]
Well, my H seemed to be having about as much fun as the President at Confession, so I asked him what was wrong. I asked him why he didn't seem to have a good time with me when we went out anymore (especially when he was MORE than willing to stay up and go out with Jabba the Slut - no, y'all, I didn't say that! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] ) He says that I always "do this" - I always complain when we go out. [Go Mariners!] I didn't LB, I took his hand and said, "No, honey, I just want us to be able to laugh together and have fun again." [Who let the dogs out?!] We then went on to have one of the deepest conversations that we've ever had in our relationship. We both learned new things about each other - it was real communication!
So all in all, [Lou's Crew] we had a great weekend together. It was worth ditching the last few days of my conference to be with my H the way that I was [A Rod!]. It was a beautiful, albeit LONG drive there and back, but the fact that I had my husband back, even if it was just for the weekend, made it all worthwhile. Now reality is setting back in, but I'm hopeful for our future. [Go Mariners!]

Sounds like a lot of positives for the both of you, especially the conversation part.
And you're right on with the subliminal messages, especially when he asked why you always complain when the two of you are out.
It's taken me alot of time to undersatnd, not saying that I am the best at it, that often when we're together I act differently than when we were dating. I'm sure that when the two of you were first together, instead of complaining you told him what a wonderful time you had when together, probably what Jabba does now. From what I've gathered, the constant "How come's?" and "Whys?" don't do a very good job at creating romance.
Good luck to you, it sounds as if you may be off on the right foot!
------------------
I am in this situation for a very good reason, it just took time to get over my own self-pity and understand why.
